I took a little break from our cocktails last week due to the short week. But this week I’m back again with something wonderful for the cold Australian weather!

Chocolate Martini
1 1/2 shots Godiva® chocolate liqueur
1 1/2 shots creme de cacao
1/2 shot vodka
2 1/2 shots half-and-half

Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake and pour into a chilled cocktail glass.

Chocolate Martinis can be made in many varied ways, but the base ingredient is always vodka – plain or flavoured. Added to that are Crème de Cacao, cream, Cointreau,Dark Chocolate Liqueur or White Chocolate liqueur to create your particular martini. Try Martini Art for inspiration. Even the names given to the different Chocolate Martinis are fun – Mint Patty Martini, Out in the Milky Way Martini, Funky Monkey.

Naturally awedding inspired by a Chocolate Martini would feature all things chocolate! Milk, white and dark chocolate – mix these hues up using varying shades of these colours in your napery, table decorations, and flower arrangements. Add an accent colour – say orange/red and your wedding will have a perfect colour scheme for autumn. Add a Tiffany or duck egg blue and the feeling will change entirely to one of elegance and restraint. Using a background colour of white chocolate add the other colours in varying amounts – cream as your main colour, dark chocolate, then milk chocolate and then the blue (or orange)as the accent which adds the sparkle to this subdued scheme.

Use lots of glassware to add sparkle, or copper or pewter with your orange accents. Think chocolate coloured leaves, succulents, flowers or even just plain cream arrangements will look elegant.

Guests would of course be served your choice of chocolate martini – perhaps one created especially for you. Dessert could feature a chocolate laden table – truffles, brownies, mousse, cheesecake – the list is endless. Use chocolate bars wrapped in paper with your names inscribed on it, would be a sweet favour. Or small boxes with special chocolates from your favourite chocolate shop. Even your cake could have the flavours of chocolate or be plain vanilla with cream frosting embellished in milk and dark chocolate piping.

A cigar bar provided for guests with dark elegant lighting, crystal tear drops and tealight candles in gold and brown glassware lighting the area. A dessert bar with chocolate mousse, icecream, tart and even chocolate covered strawberries.

Dark brown velvet covered lounges, chiffon brown curtains and table runners and coffee beans in bowls. Think intimate! Crackling fires, ottomans and plenty of areas for small group chats. Music of jazz and piano playing in the background with smooth jazz singers.

What a yummy way to get married!
