Eco Chic Wedding Shoot
by Polkadot Bride
Queenslanders just keep sending me such gorgeous styled shoots, I can’t resist in sharing them with you! The lovely Carly of Queensland based CL Wedding & Events sent through this eco- chic styled shoot she was asked to do for Eumarella Shores Resort. Eumarella Shores is an eco friendly resort and sits on the shores of Lake Weyba.
The shoot has some stunning inspiration- perfect for a lakeside wedding (or even beside the beach) with simple, natural elements and a soft colour palette.
Carly says “The brief was to keep the style within the Eco Chic realms but without losing any glamour that every bride and groom wants for their wedding day. We used recycled recipe index cards for the menus, recycled cardboard and twine for the place cards and hung a 3 metre twig ‘chandelier’ with 28 glass tea lights in place of ordinary lights . An antique type writer was used as the guest book and old novels with wooden letters were used as props. We kept the ceremony simple and intimate and let the stunning lake in the background speak for itself!”
Photography is by Calli B Photography, styling by CL Weddings & Events and flowers by Mondo Floral Design.
I love this idea of simple paper tags on the backs of chairs- special ones for the bride and groom are a great idea, but perhaps you might consider these in lieu of place cards? Especially if you have gorgeous chairs like these cream painted wooden ones.
Typewriters make such a fun statement and can become a great talking point for guests as they write their heartfelt messages for you.
I am a massive fan of succulents at weddings- who says you need flowers? Why not masses of succulents and green leaves? It looks crisp and clean when paired with white linens.
Simple lounge areas are also a favourite of mine – they promote intimate conversations and give guests a quiet place to escape the celebration together. Make them comfy with plenty of cushions and sweet touches.
A beautiful way to spend the day don’t you think?

Delicious Tablescapes
by Polkadot Bride
As an ode to winter and the rich, delicious hues, I thought I’d share Form Over Function’s red & chocolate table scape they styled for the Centennial Parklands Dining Bridal Open Night this afternoon.
This would be so perfect for winter, with the rich brown leathers, the spicy red flowers… I think boxes of cinnamon jelly bellys might be the perfect winter warmers to add to the tables don’t you think? Perhaps little sachets of hot chocolate? Something sumptuous!
Next up, something completely different but just as stunning- crisp green with white and taupe. I love the modern feeling to this setup. The green and white cake (by Cake Occasions) is the perfect contrast to the bold sage green striped table cloths. Plus the urban style green menus (also by Form Over Function) and green tealight holders just add bold touches to the sleek look.

Baby Blue Lolly Buffet
by Polkadot Bride
I never get tired of pretty tablescapes- I always find something to draw from them as inspiration! The lovely Alicia from Form Over Function recently styled a gorgeous set of ten tables for the Centennial Parklands Dining Bridal Open Night. There are so many beautiful colour ways, decor designs and delicious looking tables that I thought we’d split them up over a few entries.
Today we’re starting with the baby blue lolly buffet! I love the hues of blue styled around the invitation (also by Form Over Function) and stunning blue and white floral cake! All styling by Form Over Function, cake by Cake Occasions and cookies by Polka Dot Cookies.
The key with this buffet and really any buffet is to vary the heights- I love how the Form over Function team made use of cake platters and tiered cake stands to stack the goodies high. Adding the cream lollies keeps the buffet looking elegant. (Plus it gives you a few more choices if you choose a distinct colour like blue).
I am a sucker for matching invitations to the cake and I love how the duck egg blue of the invitations was styled into the icing. So pretty!
Check back this afternoon for the first two of the Form Over Function reception tablescapes!

Splendid Days Boutique Marquee Hire
by Polkadot Bride
One of the greatest joys I have with Polka Dot Bride is getting to know businesses and the talented individual behind them.
Granine first came onto my radar last year with a different business, then she told me about her plans for a brand new exciting venture. The exciting venture launched a few weeks ago, Splendid Days, a boutique marquee and accessory hire company.
Along with business partner Tania, the Splendid Days team have over 10 years of experience in the industry. but more than that, their styling shows a sense of elegance and grace, evident in their attention to detail..
They offer two marquee sizes (the Regent and the Majestic) with chandelier lighting and 6m high canopied ceilings along with gorgeous furniture and beautifully styled interiors (right down to the last candle).
Splendid Days are located in Sydney and service the entire east coast of Australia.
Visit the Splendid Days website to find out more.
