A Spring Country Wedding - Abbey’s Wedding

Filed under: Abbey's Wedding · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 8:03 pm

Abbey is off to see her reception venue this week. The venue is a beautiful old country house with exposed brick walls. I’m really excited about the venue as it suits Abbey and is a blank canvas to work with!

Abbey has also chosen her invitations this week- a lovely soft gold design with a slight handmade feel which will suit her wedding perfectly. She’s ordered her favourite flower- the frangipani in silk bouquets.

For Abbey’s wedding I envisage the room filled with candles- a neutral canvas with touches of green. Sheaves of wheat, spring colours, handmade touches and a feeling of a spring country celebration. The scent of fresh blooms and comfort food, light soft jazz in the background and a definate feeling of love in the air!

Guests to arrive at the church on a sunny afternoon, to be handed beautifully designed booklets and bubbles.

Here’s a little inspiration for Abbey….

Pear place card from brides.com, Abbey’s venue, herb pots from brides.com, blooms in vases from brides.com, outdoor buffet from brides.com, wheat candle holder from brides.com, wheat centerpiece from Martha Stewart, cake from The Perfumed Garden, room at Abbey’s venue, dresses from David’s Bridal, room from brides.com, bouquet from Coral Orchid Florist.

We’re looking forward to Abbey’s future plans!

Help! I Married A Celebrity!

Filed under: Celebrity Weddings · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 4:42 pm

Wedding season means weddings everywhere and celebrities aren’t excluded!

Our Australian (and international) celebrities have had some beautiful weddings this year- we thought we’d show some on Polka Dot Bride!

Amanda’s grand entrance. Photos from Home and Away website

First up, a not so real wedding- the wedding of Peter Baker and Amanda Vale on Home and Away aired last night on Channel 7.

Walked down the aisle by son Ryan.

Holly Brisley who plays Amanda looked stunning in her Pallas Bridal gown covered with crystals. She wore no veil, instead wearing earrings from Nikki Kovesi which were a feature. She wed Peter in a garden ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

Amanda’s earrings were a spectacular feature.

Her bridesmaids were dressed in blush pink gowns by Messina (02 9698 5099), and finished with crystal jewelery and matching shoes.

The processional was by Katie Noonan and is called ‘Love’s My Song’. A beautiful ceremony- but in true Home and Away style was ruined by a sordid plan to make Amanda suffer (devised by her sister!)

Onto real life weddings, Getaway host Natalie Gruzlewski and Surfer Luke Egan wed on Australia’s Gold Coast, I love how Natalie stayed true to her beach girl look!

Natalie and Luke wed in Coolangatta with their reception at Oskar’s at Burleigh Heads. Natalie wore a strapless dress by designer Alex Perry.

Ada Nicodemu, star of Channel 7’s Home and Away wed Chris Xipolitas in a huge 400 guest wedding in a Sydney Greek ceremony.

Ada wore a J’aton Couture gown rumoured to have cost $60,000 (most of that being the antique diamond and pearl brooch worn on the dress. Her bridesmaids were dressed in oyster coloured gowns. Ada was walked down the aisle by her mother and carried gardenias which held special significance to her.

Ada and Chris

Ada and Chris had a black, white and red ‘mad hatter’ style wedding cake as a nod to Chris’ support of football team the Sydney Swans. Their reception involved plenty of greek dancing and eating at Sydney’s Shangri-La hotel.

Erica Heynatz’s slim cut ceremony gown was stunning. Photos from Ok! Magazine

Erica Heynatz (star of various Aussie TV shows such as It Takes Two, Australia’s Next Top Model, The Hothouse and more) wed Andrew Kingston in a small ceremony at Jonah’s overlooking Sydney’s Whale beach.

Erica and Andrew

Erica wore two Alex Perry designed gowns- which he gifted to her, one a sleek fitted dress was worn for the ceremony, and a shorter, fun dress was worn for the reception. Erica and Andrew filled the reception with white flowers and danced the night away (in her sparkly Terry Biviano shoes!).

Finally, an international touch, Liz Hurley wed Arun Nayar.

Arun and Liz graced the cover of Hello! Magazine

Elton John walked Liz down the aisle of the celebrity filled ceremony in a castle at The Cotswalds, The couple then flew to India for a traditional Indian celebration.

Liz and the little members of the party, including her son. Damian

Liz walked down the aisle to Vivaldi’s Gloria in a chapel filled with white blooms in a dress of micro pleats and shredded chiffon and tulle. Her bridal party consisted of her son Damian and other small members such as Elle Macpherson’s son, Cy.Liz and Arun danced to ‘Can you feel the love tonight’ sung by Elton John as their first dance.

It’s lovely to wear traditional white and ivory bridal shoes- but sometimes, something a little unexpected peeking out from the bottom of your dress can be a fun touch.

Wedding season is in full force so Polka Dot Bride is slightly quiet at the moment! But don’t worry, we have a huge amount of great ideas coming your way very soon!

In the meantime one of our favourite magazines Creative Weddings came out last week and we LOVE it! Some great DIY projects including a favour of ‘cookie mix in a jar’ (Imagine a jar filled with layers of flour and cocoa and chocolate chips tied with a cute label) It’s gorgeous!

Abbey’s Wedding Update

Filed under: Abbey's Wedding · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 8:53 am

Our feature bride Abbey’s wedding date in October is only 7 months away! Abbey is off to meet with the photographer and have a look at her venue (a beautiful country house) in the upcoming week!

Abbey has done a lot of pits and pieces for her wedding which is sure to be an intimate, cosy event. She’s purchased a pattern for a two piece wedding gown from ebay as her mum has offered to make her dress. She purchased a veil, she’s chosen and bought her silk flowers (frangipanis) She’s bought her wedding planner (The Harry and The Princess one I recently featured!) She’s found her church and is ready for the next steps!

Abbey is slightly stressed, or at least perplexed trying to work out all the details!

What were you most stressful wedding planning moments?
