From ‘Yes’ To ‘I Do’

Filed under: Engagements, Fun and Games, Stationery · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 2:16 pm

While I love a good wedding, it almost always starts with a proposal. From a bended knee in front of a crackling fire, to a sign underwater next to a shark.

Today I’m sharing some of my favourites………….

I’ve mentioned this one before, but for someone to use their talents to put together something like this is touching.

The animated proposal

The grand scale proposal

The Veronica Mars proposal (there’s a story behind this one! The guy was trying to buy a slot during the super bowl (or another grand sporting event) and was helped by many Americans from a website. Unfortunately he didn’t raise quite enough and instead opted to put the proposal on during her favourite TV show- Veronica Mars.

The ‘My favourite movie’ proposal

The beachside proposal

The “serenade her” proposal

and finally..I can’t do a post like this without putting in one of my fave wedding movie proposals- this ones from ‘The Wedding Singer’

Abbey’s Going Green

Filed under: Abbey's Wedding · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 11:56 am

Well Abbey is only a few months out from her wedding (well about 6 months!) and things are progressing! The gorgeous reception venue is booked- unfortunately the kitchen is quite mall so Abbey has had a bit of trouble finding caterers that will suit her needs. The gorgeous country hosue doesn’t need much in the way of decoration, but what would you do?

Photography is also on the agenda but Abbey does love to look at the pretty things and so shoes have been on her mind! After my recent post of different coloured shoes and Abbey’s choice of green in her wedding, she decided on a pair of green shoes to peep out from under her dress.

She is currently lusting after this fab pair of Alan Pinkus shoes which go by the name of Lacey and retail for $249. Hint- if looking for coloured shoes for you wedding day, look under ‘Special Occasion’ rather than Bridal.

Abbey is also busily searching for her bridesmaids gowns- a lot of styles are strapless which won’t suit her bridesmaids who are well endowed. So we’re on the hunt for dresses with thicker straps and a soft fabric like chiffon in a beautiful green. Have you seen any around?

As an added bonus Abbey’s wedding dress pattern has arrived and I’m sure she will have fun with her mother making it!

Golden Shades Of Light

Filed under: Inspiration and Ideas · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 7:10 pm

I have seen this beautiful light in various places recently and it’s been following me in my thoughts- perhaps even to my dreams.

The light is by a brand called Artecnic Inc and was designed (or so the story goes) by a man called Tord Boontje who was struggling to find soft lightshades for his baby daughter. The lightshade creates a beautiful design of light, reminiscent of a forest. It unfolds out of a single sheet of metal.

A wedding dream of many girls is a fairytale forest full of magic and twinkling light. I think this light fits the bill perfectly! It’s the perfect inspiration

The garland light is available in Australia from De De Ce

Celebrity Wedding Gossip

Libby’s Wedding Tent

The Easter weekend didn’t only bring thoughts of chocolate eggs and bunnies- it also brought the wedding of Australian swimming champion Libby Lenton.

Libby as we know her

While her wedding has been attacked by rival networks for its intense secrecy (the wedding party left the reception in a tent and were covered by white sheets) for a very expensive media deal, I for one am looking forward to seeing Libby’s reported Lisa Gowing dress and rose bouquet. Interestingly her strength coach, according to news.com.au has reported Libby used Not Another Toaster which we profiled last week.

Meanwhile, rumours of Naomi Watts’ wedding are in full swing, with the latest gossip to report Naomi will be marrying in Sydney before the baby arrives.

Spot them here (and check out their cool tshirts!)
