Palette Generator - Marie Antoinette Style

Filed under: Inspiration and Ideas · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 7:34 pm

I recently wrote about the cool little tool from brides.com which generates fab new colour combinations for your wedding.

I just came across an even more inspiring one- but this one has a twist, it’s up to you!

The Palette Generator allows you upload the photo of your choice (and since we’re in wedding mode lets tailor it to our wedding!) and the generator will tell you the colours you could use to bring your inspiration to life.

Let’s take this gorgeous photo from the Kirsten Dunst film Marie Antoinette (a must see for colour inspiration!)

Upload the file to the palette generator and voila- it gives us this

Oh the possibilities! A wedding featuring soft greys, neutral browns and soft pinks with a touch of rich red and brown.

This bouquet from Brides in Bloom fits the billThis cake from Planet Cake with its intricate detailing would work well

Didn’t We Almost Have It All - A Grey’s Anatomy Wedding

Filed under: Celebrity Weddings · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 3:45 pm

The season finale of one of my favourite shows Grey’s Anatomy aired this week with an (almost) wedding of characters Cristina and Burke.

Cristina has played the anti-bride in this couple. She’s struggled to become a ‘bride’ even with Burke’s pushing. This of course leads to everything falling apart in a way that only TV land can do!

The Ceremony Set Up

But onto the details

Cristina (played by the gorgeous Sandra Oh) wore a $6,600 Amsale Aberra designed strapless mermaid gown and a gorgeous necklace (which was a Burke family tradition)

Bridesmaids Meredith, Izzie and Callie wore different chocolate gowns.

I love the bouquets

One of my favourite parts (which we didn’t get to see in the church but in an operating theatre!) were Burke’s vows

Cristina, I could promise to hold you, and to cherish you.

I could promise to be there in sickness and in health. I could say till death do us part. But I won’t. Those vows are for optimistic couples, the ones full of hope. And I do not stand here on my wedding day, optimistic or full of hope. I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know. I am a heart man. I take them apart. I put them back together. I hold them in my hands. I … am a heart man. So this, I am sure, you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend. My heart beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this. I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands. I promise you … me.Sigh!

Tagged!

Laura over at the glorious event planning blog ‘Soiree Special Events’ tagged me! Check out Soiree!

Players list 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, players then tag 8 people by posting their names and makes sure they know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at the tagee’s blog.

1. I have an issue with egg yolks- always have, don’t know why! LOVE eggs in cakes and scrambled, but if I have fried eggs I only eat the white!

2. I always take the second magazine from a pile at the newsagents- slightly weird? well yes but I get a fresh copy at least!

3. I’m a photo junkie…I check my fave photographer’s blogs every day and I have a collection of pics that take my breath away. I love that in a photo!

4. I have a thing for red in kitchens, I’m always drawn to red blenders, red kitchen aids and more. Even though I’m probably more of a pink girl!

6. I adore bows= I’m always drawn to bows and seem to be obsessed with looking at cute ribbon and thinking about how I can use them. I’m always very into vintage goodies and like the history of objects.

7. I love getting mail and I love sending it! I’m always alert to the sound of the mailman’s truck when I’m home and run out to get it straight away. Mind you I also love email! I even have a habit of emailing myself links and reminders!

8. I really want to do a 100 goals in 1001 days list..I just can’t seem to get to it! Its on my to do list! (Ironic really) I’m currently on an ‘experience’ quest!

I tag (because unfortunately all my reads appear to have been already tagged!)

1. Manolo For The Brides!
2. Oh Joy!

Kim Clijsters & Brian Lynch Wed

Kim & Brian

Kim Clijsters wed Brian Lynch (and American basketball player) in a secret dawn ceremony on July 13 in Brussels.

The pregnant Kim wed Brian in a civil ceremony at 6am which included the traditional bridal hymn and a U2 song chosen by Kim.

The marriage was celebrated with a church ceremony and extended family and friends days later where Kim wore a stunning gown designed by Nicky Vankets with a lace bodice and carried calla lilies. A celebration in the gardens of Kim’s villa in Bree followed which included stunning fireworks
