Sydney couture design Jo Durkin has a sense of Hollywood glamour to her designs. With a background in mainstream fashion, Jo turned her attention to detail to the bridal world and creates stunning bridal gowns.
With clean, simple lines the gowns really show off the wearer’s figure- in a beautifully sexy way while still capturing that bridal elegance. Jo uses minimal detailing- beads cascading off the shoulders, a simple rouched bodice or a simple tie around the waist to add that little extra touch to her creations.

The new collection Jason Grech White launched in December last year has a sense of the unusual about it. Gowns are dip dyed in a splash of colour and the flowing fabrics drape to create beautiful shapes.

Sydney designer Luom Ousby popped up on my radar a few months ago with her label Luomo and I’m delighted to share her work with you today.
Luom trained in New Zealand before heading to Australia’s golden shores in 1997 where she worked for Studibaker and Smith & Miles before starting her label Luomo in 2004. I was drawn to Luom’s simple elegant lines in the collections. There’s no fluff, no big skirts, no dramatic detail. Instead, the drama comes through the elegant cuts, the simple skirts, the tailoring of the fabric so it drapes off the bride’s body and the simple touches- a halter necklace, a black sash around the waist, a simple ruffle.
We only have a few images (Luomo is yet to release her latest shoot to her website) but I think they capture her style beautifully.
