The wedding reception was decorated in red and champagne. Each table was decorated with a tall cylindrical vase filled with apples (which Corey and Leezar were delighted to see guests start eating them at the end of the night) and a hand cut paper leaf with the table number. Corey and Leezar drank out of handpainted wine glasses created by Corey’s mother with apples and “The Apple Of My Eye 10.10.09″.

With the help of her bridesmaids, Leezar made 100 Dandi treasure boxes for the guests to take home. They were filled with sweet treats.

“The Bonbonniere for each guest were Dandi treasure boxes created with the Dandi fabric treasure box kit, using Dandi plain dyed berry fabric. With lots of help from my Bridesmaids, we spent the months before the wedding making these treasure boxes for over 100 guests. The treasure boxes were then finished with a chocolate brown leather stalk and paper place card cut in the shape of a leaf a smaller version of the leaves displaying the table numbers. The treasure boxes were then filled with heart chocolates.”

The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Leezar’s Mum, Pam. It had tiny apple cut outs made from icing and was also decorated with berries to match her bouquet.

Leezar says “I have been dancing since I was six so I really wanted our first dance to be a choreographed dance. We danced to a song called “Still” by my French cousin Flox which was choreographed by Penrith Ballroom Dance. Corey was so nervous but did such a good job. My brother even said his jaw dropped because he didn’t know Corey could dance and Sarah (my bridesmaid) said she cried the whole way through the dance.”

I love nothing more than having a bride share the details from beginning to end with us. Today I get to share the wedding of Leezar (one of the brains behind gorgeous Australian homewares brand Dandi) who shared her engagement invitations DIY project with us two years ago.

You know that with someone like Leezar and the company of the girls at Dandi (who created the fantastic paper napkin origiami flower favors) that her wedding is going to be reflective of their personalities and filled with precious details.

Leezar tells the story “We based the wedding theme around Apples as we always tell each that they we are the apple of each others their eye. We used the colours red (Corey’s favourite), Chocolate brown (my favourite) and Champagne.

Corey and I both attended the University of Technology Sydney and studied Industrial Design, which is where we met. We were best friends for 3 years and then in the 4th year of University we finally began our life together as a couple. When Corey’s mum, Joanne first met me she told Corey there was a definite spark and she knew that we would end up together.

Corey proposed at my 25th birthday in front of all our family and friends, he actually sold his car to buy my ring which I thought was getting a service!”

Leezar’s six bridesmaids each wore a chocolate brown gown from Artdonnalee. Leezar made each bridesmaid a chocolate satin clutch and a pearl necklace.

Leezar’s flowergirls wore sweet champagne coloured dresses with a chocolate brown sash. As a big Sex & The City fan, she wore “those” Manolo Blahniks as her something blue. her father wore a tie to compliment her shoes, while Corey wore an ivory tie to match her wedding gown.

Leezar describes her gown “A full lace mermaid cut Pronovias San Patrick gown from Fashions by Farina.  My Mother-in-Law, Joanne, actually picked it out for me and it was the first gown I tried. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.” Leezar carried a posy of cream tulips and red berries arranged by a friend, Lee.

Leexar’s Bracelet, apple necklace and apple anklet were from Fifth Avenue Collection.  Her rings were from her late Grandmas on both sides. She also wore an antique family heirloom watch borrowed from bridesmaid Belinda, tiara from Diva and veil from Wedding Wonderland.

Instead of flowers, Leezar’s bridesmaids carried red parasols from Boston Umbrella. The flower girls carried red buckets filled with red rose petals they scattered down the aisle.

Corey and his groomsmen wore suits from Industrie in the colour “Tobacco”. Leezar made the stationery herself. The motif was an apple tree printed in browns and reds. Each invitation was wrapped with a brown leather tie, a little apple charm and a hand cut paper leaf with the guests names written on them.

Leezar and Corey were married at Sebel Hawkesbury, Hawkesbury Valley. Leezar says “It rained at the ceremony, which we all laughed was because I arrived on a Red London Bus (hired from Britstop) as a nod to being from London. The bridesmaids got good use out of their parasols. It actually made the wedding, because we all gathered together undercover in the Sebel Garden and it made our ceremony so intimate.”

Leezar’s brother Kye Gratton and singer Sarah Reeve wrote two songs for Corey and Leezar. The first was played as Leezar arrived at the ceremony venue, the second was played by just Kye as Leezar walked down the aisle.

We shared the first part of Katie and Kevin’s elegant Sydney wedding with you last week. Now we have the reception photos to share! These have such a fun vibe about them!

Katie and Kevin held their reception at Crystal Palace in Sydney’s Luna Park- which also created a great backdrop for some fun newlywed shots! Katie says Michelle at Crystal Palacemade everything run perfectly on their wedding day- not only did they have a fantastic wedding but they gained a friend! Luna Park was a nod to Katie’s and Kevin love of having fun.

Katie says of their first dance  “One of my most dearest and best friends is a brilliant singer.  He was also one of my “bride’s mates” in my bridal party.  As a surprise he got up and sang our first dance to the song that I have always wanted to have my first dance too “The way you look tonight” by Tony Bennett.  It brought tears to my eyes.  It was just magic.  Special and one of the main highlights of the whole day.  Really special moment for me.”

Katie says “We didn’t have speeches, Kevin & myself gave a speech and then we just had a massive celebration with a live band playing and everyone dancing.  There is this one moment a photo of the room that shows all the tables with no one on them and everyone is on the dance floor, all ages.  That moment, that photo showed me that we achieved what we wanted, it was this room full of love and everyone was just there for the same reason.”

Heidi and Jae – The Celebration

Filed under: Inspired Weddings, New South Wales · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 3:37 pm

I think Heidi and Jae showed such perfect grace on their wedding day when their garden ceremony plans were thrown into disarray by Mother Nature. All I can see is Heidi and Jae’s endless smiles!

Heidi says the bridal party was instrumental in making the day full of laughter. “Jae’s groomsmen were his best mates from school and my bridesmaids were made up of my sister, 2 of my best friends and my cousin. Our flower girl and page boy were another cousin’s children. They were so helpful in the lead up to the wedding and kept us in high spirits the whole day regardless of the weather – you will see in many of the photos on the online gallery that we were just in hysterics and could not stop laughing!”

Using their wet weather option, Heidi and Jae held their ceremony at their reception venue- Sydney Glass Island.

Heidi walked down the aisle to “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.  Heidi says “One thing that was very important to me was to have both my mum and my dad walk me down the aisle. They separated while I was growing up but it was so special to me that they came together to walk me down the aisle to marry Jae. It was very emotional, I first saw Jae and started to tear up and then mum saw me and starting crying and when I saw mum crying I cried even more!”

The ceremony location change meant Heidi and Jae married with the Sydney Harbour Bridge behind them. Heidi says “We wrote our own vows. Our celebrant Garry Richards was such a wonderfully patient man! He provided us with a wide range of passages and excerpts that we could select to put our ceremony together, but we couldn’t find anything that really suited us. We wanted a short and sweet ceremony that was light hearted but meaningful at the same time. So we wrote our asking and vows to incorporate some humor including me promising not to kick Jae in my sleep and accepting Jae’s computer game addiction and Jae promising to put up with my crazy cleaning habits and let me steal the covers every now and then!”

One of Heidi’s favourite memories was after the wedding, she says “We loved going back to the hotel after the wedding and drinking into the night with our bridal party and family at the hotel bar! The whole day seems to fly by so quickly that it was over before we knew it and Jae and I were not going to miss out on the rest of the night’s festivities. So we went up to our room, changed and kicked on with the rest of the crowd! It was great to spend time with our friends and family especially because so many had traveled so far to see us”

Thankyou Heidi and Jae for allowing us to share your wedding day on Polka Dot Bride! Congratulations on your marriage! Thankyou also to by Cato & Pade for allowing us to share the photographs!
