Lea and Matt The Celebration

Filed under: Queensland, Real Weddings · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 3:45 pm

Earlier today I shared the gorgeous seaside wedding of Lea and Matt shot by Sugarlove Pictures. Now it’s time for the celebration!

Post ceremony, the bridal party gathered for some photos on the deck and amongst the bushland.

After a few post ceremony shots, it was time to head down to Coolum Beach for some fun in the sand

Then it was onto the reception!

Long tables were set up on the deck of The Angkasa by Noosa Wedding and Event Hire. Delicious food was provided by Noosa Catering

Each napkin was adorned with pink pepperberries and each place setting was set with a frosted candle holder showing the guest’s name. Each guest received a personal thank you note from Lea and Matt.

The centrepieces matched the bouquets- David Austin and Julia roses in creams and dusty pinks with pink pepperberries.

Josh tried his hand at capturing memories

Guests spent the afternoon (and beyond!) celebrating at the house on long, lounge chairs with champagne and scrumptious foodie offerings.

Thankyou Lea and Matt for allowing us to share your beautiful beachside wedding on Polka Dot Bride! Thankyou also to Leigh of Sugarlove Pictures for another beautifully captured wedding!

Lea and Matt

Today on Polka Dot Bride, Sydney photography studio Sugarlove Pictures have shared with us the beautiful beach wedding of Lea and Matt. Matt’s proposal was a grand one- a plane trailing a sign “Lea, Will You Marry Me?” viewed as Lea and Matt dined at their favourite cafe.

The wedding was held at Coolum Beach in Queensland, Lea and Matt chose to have a small beachside celebration with 40 guests.

Lea and Matt’s celebration was held  The Angkasa, a luxurious four bedroom home set in tropical rainforest and inspired by Bali. The guests also celebrated the reception at the house.

Lea and her girls got ready for the big day in The Tropical Suite

Beautiful blooms by Mandi Backhouse of The Flower Pod (mandibackhouse@hotmail.com), plenty of pink bubbles accompanied the girls getting dressed!

In preparation for the warm weather, guests were supplied with carved wooden fans.

Lea’s gown was an Essense design from Trenz Boutique and featured stunning beading on tulle over ivory satin. Lea wore shoes from Panache

Lea wore earrings by Say Bella from Trenz Boutique and a bracelet from Natasha Lee Designs. Lea and Matt’s rings were from Jacobsen Jewellery. Hair and makeup was done by Beauty On The Move.

The bridesmaids wore wrist corsages of cream roses.

Each bridesmaid was given a gift tied with a bow and their initial, consisting of a pearl brooch and earrings which completed their wedding day look, and a MOR Peony Flower Soap.

The bridesmaids wore gowns made to order from S&M Creations (0409 953 792)

The girls carried bouquets of David Austin and Julia roses in shades of cream and dusty pink. Added to the bouquet and woven into the flowergirl’s crown were pink pepperberries.

Lea’s son Josh played a big part in the wedding day.

The ceremony was held at Point Arkwright. Turtles swam under the deck as the couple said their vows.

Matt wore a stylish grey suit by Tramps For Men (02 4226 5933) with brown sandals whiles his groomsmen were dressed in white shirts and grey pants from Suiting You

Brisbane’s newest event space Events At Cutting Edge is a gorgeous venue for a wedding.

Australian Photography News

Oh there’s been so much going on this month in the world of wedding photographers in Australia!

nkandannarose

Perth Wedding Photographers Anna Rose and Natasja Kremers have joined forces to become NK and Anna Rose and they have a beautiful new site to go with their new venture! The site has a gorgeous vintage feel with a lovely soundtrack to match!

Toowoomba based videographers, Shadowplay have made their mark on the wedding blog work! Check out Shadowplay’s promo video

The Shadowplay team were introduced to the Shootsac by Aussie photographer James Day (who recently had lunch with Jessica Claire, Becker and Jasmine * earlier this year!) They loved the Shootsac so much, they shot a video, which ended up on Jessica Claire’s blog and has made Australians proud! (just check out the Oi Oi Oi’s in the comments!)

I am so looking forward to seeing all the work coming out of these (and other!) talented Australians!

Speaking of photography, reader Farah asked me who the top Australian photographers are and it’s got me stumped. In Malaysia, where Farah is from there is the ‘top 10′ photographers you go to when you get engaged. I know there has also been a Top 10 created in the USA.

So how do you measure the Top 10 Australian Wedding Photographers? I could probably name the ones who are putting their stamp on the industry , the photographers who dominate bridal magazines and are often the first choice for metro brides- I can name them too.

There’s the photographers who speak overseas, do workshops for budding shooters and are generally seen as expert wedding photographers. Then there’s those that have won plenty of awards at the photography industry award nights.

How do you pick? Do we even need to pick? Who are your favourites?

Beachside Venues

Filed under: Ceremony, New South Wales, Queensland, Reception, Western Australia · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 3:05 pm

Following on from yesterdays post about beach weddings. The first thing you need is a venue! We’re so lucky in Australia to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Here are some of my favourite beachside wedding venues, or weddings with a lovely coastal feel

Jonah’s at Palm Beach, NSW

Jonahs1 Jonahs2

Located out of Sydney, Jonah’s is a stunning ‘all in one venue’. They provide accommodation, stunning options for your ceremony in their cliff top garden and plenty of room for your reception in its recently renovated rooms with a verandah and large windows overlooking the ocean. The food is gorgeous as they’re a fully functional restaurant outside of wedding bookings. If you so dare you can even arrive via seaplane. Jonah’s has a maximum capacity of 100 guests.

The Sebel Reef House at Palm Cove, Queensland

Palm Cove is such a beautiful spot, the beauty of having a wedding here means it gives your guests a mini holiday! The Sebel offers a variety of venues and a fully inclusive wedding package, leaving you free to concentrate on having a great time!

Cable Beach, Broome, Western Australia

Cable Beach in Broome is a stunning part of Australia. Mother Earth has blessed Broome with white sandy beaches, blue waters and red rocks making it a breathtaking location! A beach ceremony followed by a reception under the stars sounds completely romantic to me! The most amazing scenery also contributes to the most amazing photographs!

Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas, Queensland

fourmilebeach

Port Douglas is a popular tourist spot and with this beach as the premier beach of the area is it any wonder? Port Douglas has some amazing restaurants and things to do (including the beautiful Daintree Rainforest and just a hop skip and a jump to the Great Barrier Reef) which makes it great for a 4 day weekend celebration!

Of course with Australia’s massive coastline, this is only the tip of the iceberg of fantastic beachside wedding locations! What are your favourites?
