Photo Booth Frivolity

Filed under: Photography, Reception, Western Australia · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 2:46 pm

I love photo booths at weddings (check out Samm Blake’s new venture at Push The Button Photo Booths if you’re in Perth!) I do love the new DIY versions that are popping up.

I think this was the first version I saw. Featured a few years ago, it’s lovely to see the wedding online (view it in full here)

Lean and Joshua set up gorgeous fabric for guests to use as a backdrop for their photos and I think it added beautifully to the relaxed vibe of the day. (If memory serves me correctly this was also the wedding where Lena and her mother collected different vintage pattern crockery to serve the wedding feast on).

It is of course, courtesy of Martha Stewart Weddings

It’s simple to set up a DIY photo booth- ask your photographer what they recommend! Find a blank wall (or some fabulous fabric!) provide props, a camera and tripod and have a few friends help out taking shots.

A gorgeous way to capture your day!

Australian Photography News

Oh there’s been so much going on this month in the world of wedding photographers in Australia!

nkandannarose

Perth Wedding Photographers Anna Rose and Natasja Kremers have joined forces to become NK and Anna Rose and they have a beautiful new site to go with their new venture! The site has a gorgeous vintage feel with a lovely soundtrack to match!

Toowoomba based videographers, Shadowplay have made their mark on the wedding blog work! Check out Shadowplay’s promo video

The Shadowplay team were introduced to the Shootsac by Aussie photographer James Day (who recently had lunch with Jessica Claire, Becker and Jasmine * earlier this year!) They loved the Shootsac so much, they shot a video, which ended up on Jessica Claire’s blog and has made Australians proud! (just check out the Oi Oi Oi’s in the comments!)

I am so looking forward to seeing all the work coming out of these (and other!) talented Australians!

Speaking of photography, reader Farah asked me who the top Australian photographers are and it’s got me stumped. In Malaysia, where Farah is from there is the ‘top 10′ photographers you go to when you get engaged. I know there has also been a Top 10 created in the USA.

So how do you measure the Top 10 Australian Wedding Photographers? I could probably name the ones who are putting their stamp on the industry , the photographers who dominate bridal magazines and are often the first choice for metro brides- I can name them too.

There’s the photographers who speak overseas, do workshops for budding shooters and are generally seen as expert wedding photographers. Then there’s those that have won plenty of awards at the photography industry award nights.

How do you pick? Do we even need to pick? Who are your favourites?

Shaun and Candice

Kylie of husband and wife photography team Pixel Magix sent in the beautiful wedding of Candice and Shaun.

The love story of Shaun and Candice began in Australia’s sunshine state Queensland where they both were students at the University of Queensland. Their romance blossomed and after a brief sojourn to the Ningaloo Reef Coastline in north Western Australia, the couple settled together in Busselton, where Candice continued her work with marine biology and Shaun began working in the apprenticeship and trainee field.

Their love of the ocean led the groom Shaun to plan an ocean themed wedding for March. A little surprise meant a new arrival was due the same month, so they decided to speed up their plans and wed on the November long weekend. The little surprise also meant Candice left it until the week of the wedding to buy her wedding gown!

Shaun and Candice were married on the beach at Bunker Bay, a reception followed at Wise Vineyards both in Dunsborough, Western Australia.

The morning of the wedding was stormy and gray and cleared to bright blue skies just as the couple walked down the boardwalk to the beach.

The little surprise arrived in March by the way- baby boy Flynn!

Candice had her hair done by Qadir Hair, she carried a bouquet of pink lillies

0103

The wedding rings were by Fusion Jewellers, with the bracelet given to Candice as a gift, from John Miller Design

0105

The couple were wed by Jennifer Etherington under a floral arch with the waves crashing in the background

0136

Love the waves crashing down in this shot- the beach at Bunker Bay provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony.

0137 0140

The quintessential Australian beach shot- a surfer in his wetsuit passes the newlyweds

The lush green of Wise Vineyards is such a nice contrast to the sandy beach photos

My favourite shot of the day! the newlyweds dancing on the deck at the vineyard.

Check back this afternoon for the beautiful details!
