Kylene and Ryan - The Details

Filed under: Polka Dots, Real Weddings · Posted by: Polkadot Bride at 3:30 pm

Earlier today I shared with you some of the gorgeous wedding photos from Kylene and Ryan’s wedding. Now for the juicy details! The details of this wedding were so thought out and truly complimented Kylene and Ryan’s style!

As guests arrived at the wedding, a handmade sign directed them to the ceremony site. It also pointed them to Kylene and Ryan’s favourite holiday destinations. The top was adorned with polka dot ribbon.

Kylene wore pink shoes under her wedding gown.

For the ceremony, the aisle was decorated with rose petals and shepherds hooks with mason jars filled with coffee beans and pink flowers. Kylene used large silver garden stands with flower balls. Flowers by Missy Gunnels

Kylene handmade petal cones out of vellum with the newlyweds monorgram. Kylene’s bouquet was adorned with a pink crystal brooch.

The couple had a signature had our signature drink, the “RyeKye” being passed around with a custom monogrammed swizzle stick, along with fresh fried grouper fingers. (Ryan’s favourite)

Kylene gave polka dot bracelets with monograms to each bridesmaid.

The main wedding cake by Brenda at Tasty Pastry

Kylene made a centrepiece for the children’s table out of a vase filled with coffee beans and lollipops. On the table were crayons and paper to keep young guests entertained.

The couple made two large chalk boards to direct guests to the seat. Each table was named after a cake and at the centre of each table sat a pink and brown iced cake in a delicious flavour- red velvet, carrot, vanilla cake with chocolate and other yummy flavours.

This has to be my favourite shot of the day! Kylene and her bridesmaids with the delicious cakes! Brenda with Tasty Pastry created cakes, each with their own personality and each tasting amazing!   After Kylene and Ryan cut into their main cake, the longest married couple at each table got to cut their cake.  Then their guests visited different tables to try the different flavours.

The leftover cake was boxed up in sweet boxes paired with a pink and brown custom beer cosy.

Congratulations Kylene and Ryan on your wedding and thankyou for sharing it with Polka Dot Bride!

Kylene and Ryan

Kylene emailed me over our mutual love of polka dots. Turns out Kylene is a photographer and runs her own studio called Forever Photography By Kylene and her website is based on white, brown and pink polka dots- just like Polka Dot Bride!

Not only does Kylene’s love of polka dots show in her business, but it also shone in her recent nuptials!

Kylene told me the story how they met “Ryan and I were friends/coworkers for several years before we started dating.  He was the district manager for a photography company that I started working for in college, and after our friendship developed we eventually realized it was turning into something more.  Our passion for photography continues to bring us together, and Ryan will usually buy me some “romantic” camera gear for Valentine’s Day.”

The wedding was February 9, 2008, and it was held at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, Georgia. (USA)
As a wedding photographer herself, Kylene placed a lot of importance on finding the right photographer for her wedding day.  Genya Garrett of VUE Photography was chosen to snap the special memories.

Pebble Hill Plantation allowed the couple a wide choice of backdrops for their wedding, they chose the front lawn overlooking the main plantation house for their ceremony and the reception was held in the table courtyard which was decorated with twinkle lights and large globe lights. The band set up on the porch overlooking the tables and dance floor.

Ryan and Kylene saw each other before the ceremony and exchanged wedding gifts. Kylene gave Ryan a watch and Ryan gifted Kylene some gorgeous diamond earrings.

The couple presented Ryan’s daughter Riley with a pink pearl necklace with an engraved charm (featuring her monogram and the wedding date) to signify her inclusion in their life and Kylene becoming her stepmother.

Kylene and Ryan were married by their much loved next door neighbour.

Happy Family! Kylene, Ryan and Riley have their first official family photo together.

Kylene says photographer Genya Garrett was “the perfect person for us, captured our day beautifully, and I hardly even knew she was there.  There was actually a moment where she had us all jumping in the air, and she was jumping up and down too – she just had this incredible, magnetic energy that rubs off on everyone around her”

Kylene and Ryan with their personalised beer cosies. The reception was catered by John Thomas’ Cowboy Grill and included delights such as filet and chicken w/ lemon butter sauce, smashed potatoes, hericot verts, and salad. They also passed the grouper fingers and boiled shrimp.

The venue had its own dancefloor and Ryan’s parents hired Justin Music to come down from Atlanta, Georgia. Kylene says “Justin played all of the songs we wanted from U2, to Dave Matthews, Sting and any other good stuff you could think of. We really thought we had these famous people singing at our wedding, Justin’s voice is just amazing. The bands’ personality was also great and they made our reception fun and unique. No electric slide silly business, just good music and dancing!”

Tune in later today when I’ll share all the gorgeous details from Kylene and Ryan’s wedding!

Ashley and Mike

I have the sweetest wedding for you today!

Ashley emailed me last week about her gorgeous Stephanie James Couture polka dot wedding gown. Ashley and Matt had a black and white vintage rockabilly wedding in sunny California and they look like they had the most fabulous day!

Photography by Pamela Marie Photography

Ashley wore a fascinator, which matched the cute 50’s style of her wedding gown

Never let it be said that getting into a wedding dress is an easy task!

Ashley and her bridesmaids

Ashley had each of her bridesmaids choose their own black gown (one chose the same fabric used in Ashley’s underskirt to feature on top of her gown). But they all wore black peeptoes!

The flowergirls

The gorgeous flowergirls wore dresses that fit into the black and white polka dot theme and were able to be worn again as party dresses.

The work of Stephanie James couture is such a work of art- I love the polka dot underskirt here and the pleating on the skirt. With Ashley’s perfect peeptoes it’s such a gorgeous look!

Ashley walked down the aisle to Johnny Cash

I love this shot- oh so rockabilly! Ashley and Mike used Cadillacs for their transportation

The couple partied at their reception with an Elvis impersonator- who was also skilled in Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash!

The Newlyweds!

Congratulations Ashley and Mike! Thankyou for sharing your wedding on Polka Dot Bride!
