It’s so hard picking a photographer. They’re one of the most expensive parts of your wedding day and so much is riding on that one choice.

Some of my friends accuse me of being a photographer groupie. I am, I admit it. I love a good wedding photograph and I always want more!

I’m loving the new trend of blogging by photographers. I love seeing the shots they put up every day and ‘getting to know’ the photographer as a person rather than just a service provider.

So today I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite blogs, Aussie & International of photographers whose work I have fallen in love with!

Australia

James Day

James is dynamic, young and fresh! This guy is really pushing the boundaries on traditional Australian wedding photography and best of all he’s pushing himself to try new things and get that breathtaking shot. He loves to try new things and you know the passion he has for photography, love and life in general is apparent in his work. He’s great at capturing what a couple is all about and through his blog you can see the evolution of where he has been and the growth of him not only as a photographer but as a human being. His shots are full of atmosphere and emotion.

Vanessa @ Wildberry

I love Wildberry’s dreamy style and use of colour. Vanessa was one of the first photographers in Australia I knew of that did Trash the Dress and her shots have a certain ethereal quality about them. I love how she captures weddings- they convey a gentle, romantic blissfulness which is almost dream like.  She has a knack for unexpected moments and passion in her photographers. Get Vanessa to shot a couple in (or near) water and she produces amazing, sexy, sultry but beautiful shots!

Vincent Lai

Vincent just has this clean, crisp way of shooting which I love. What you see is what you get and I think he does a great job of it! He captures details in an amazing way, I am particularly fond of his shoe shots!. Vincent captures weddings from many different cultures- from Hindu wedding ceremonies to Chinese tea ceremonies. I’m always in awe of the beautiful fabrics and touches that he captures so well. I also learn a lot about different weddings through Vincent!

Toni Snell

Toni comes across as such a great person on her blog! She has a really lovely style which just works without having any effects or special poses, it’s just ‘there’ and it’s really gorgeous! With a romantic quality, Toni does classic shots but in a beautiful way! She has a great mix of photo journalistic and more posed photos and she always gets it just right!

International

Jessica Claire

She is the queen. I love Jessica Claire’s work. She really knows how to use the situation to her advantage and creates the most beautiful works of art. I love her use of colour and light, everything really pops! Jessica has a sassy personality which shines through her blog and was even chosen to capture the famous Gary Fong’s wedding (which left a lump in my throat!) Somehow she creates an amazing feeling through every photograph, the bride and groom always look like they’re having the absolute time of their lives with her!

Charlotte Geary

I think Charlotte was the first photography blog I ever came across a few years ago. I loved the details she created for her wedding and continued to follow her journey. Charlotte has a very relaxed style which comes across beautifully in her work. She can also take advantage of gorgeous surroundings like autumn leaves, fields of flowers which all add to the cosy feel of her work.

The Becker

I really like Becker’s detail shots! He does the most beautiful shots of flowers, dresses and cakes that really take my breath away. The colours are vibrant, the details glow! His portraits capture the bride and groom in a beautiful way. His classic ‘head shots’ are always a favourite of mine and he knows how to place a bride and groom so the shot is perfect!

Jesh De Rox

Jesh is amazing. He has such a different style but he really is an artist with his work. You don’t get the typical wedding shots with Jesh, instead he tries to capture the moment so every shot brings back floods of emotion. It works for me! I really love how he pushes the boundaries of wedding photography and pushes you as the viewer to consider things in a different way.

Who do you know that blogs as a photographer? I know I missed many blogs and probably forgot some of the ones I read often! Who has beautiful work which you love?
