Creative Colour – Spring Green

by | Bride, Creative Colour, Wedding Inspiration

The colour of spring leaves, Granny Smith apples, and the promise of the warm months to come.

Combine with smoky purple, plum and cream

–       With white and ivory

–       With white and black

–       With lavender and smoky blue and ivory

–       With sky blue and white

–       With chocolate brown and ivory

–       With apricot, coral and ivory

–       With clear mid pink, soft yellow and white

–       Green orchids, white lilac, moss, Euphorbia, fern fronds, white sweet peas, Alstroemeria, green berries, blushing bride, freesia, hyacinths, Corylopsis (Winter Hazel), Hellebores, green Kangaroo Paw, Baby’s Breath, hydrangeas

–       White broderie anglais as part of the flower girl’s dress, wrapped round your bouquet and secured with pearl or diamante pins, around favour boxes with spring green ribbon, edging a table runner

–       Broderie anglais lends itself to the more simple flowers such as freesias or Hellebores in white crockery containers, or in flowered vintage crockery

–       A white simply iced cake topped with a profusion of sugared white blooms and green leaves. Think of a fruit flavoured cake such as raspberry or citrus for freshness

–       A green, white and coral lolly buffet, with homemade green toffee apples, coloured jelly beans,  green apple lollipops, customised candy, peppermints

–       An ice cream and sorbet bar with paper icecream cups and wooden spoons, or icecream cones

–       A bridal tea length dress with a wide skirt, spring green shoes and sash, white bouquet, white chairs on a lawn, bridesmaids in sky blue with green sashes, green shoes, and white, blue and green bouquets of hydrangeas, crockery a mix of green and soft blue on white cloths, fresh spring foods

–       Indoors on a cool day, try smoky purple cloths, pewter or silver candelabra, green orchids, euphorbia and kangaroo paw, touches of plum and spring green in napkin ties, piping, favour boxes, place cards, candles

–       Bird, butterfly, flower and insect shapes cut out in spring green patterned paper and strung or hung from the ceiling, around windows and doorways, from tree branches, from candelabra, echoed in creatures molded in sugar or marzipan to decorate your cake. Use a favourite creature or flower shape for placemats or place cards. Find butterfly napkin rings or favours such as animal shaped chocolates or butterfly embellished spoons.

I concur – and even for weddings going into Spring 2011, there is quite a call for our flower girl dresses to be made in green with just about anything. I think green has become the new black,
