Justine and Tim

I’m going to start letting you in on just how much I love the photographers we work with at Polka Dot Bride, because they’re often my unsung heroes and the ones who are stupendous at what they do. Like Todd & Alyda of Todd Hunter McGaw Photographer. They’re always so happy when they email me and they’re rad, as in, you really can’t describe them any other way. Especially when a lovely CD shows up on your doorstep with a beautiful wedding like that of Justine and Tim. Rad. Yes.

Our lovely couple today? The lovely Justine and Tim who are actually from Melbourne but decided to hold their wedding in the sunshine State of Queensland! Justine says “We met while working together in 2001. Since then we’ve moved around a lot, including spending five years in London, and now we’re based in Melbourne.  We decided to get married just outside Brisbane as we both grew up in QLD and many of our family and friends are there.”

Justine wore a gorgeous lace gown made by Paddington Weddings. Justine says “My full-lace dress was made by the lovely women at Paddington Weddings in Brisbane. Paddington Weddings made the hair ornament as well. They were fantastic and weren’t at all fazed at the thought of creating a dress for a Melbourne-based bride who only had a few trips to Brisbane in the lead up to the wedding.”

One of Justine’s favourite memories was before the ceremony. “I had a really fun time with my wonderful family at home before we left for the ceremony. One of my brothers put on some Leonard Cohen to keep us all relaxed and we just enjoyed ourselves.”

Tim wore a bespoke suit from Godwin Charli.

Justine says “We married on the 1st of May at a place called Topiaries at Beaumont in Samford Valley, just outside Brisbane.  It was a beautiful venue with a view over Samford Valley. The 3.30pm ceremony, post-ceremony drinks and evening sit-down reception were all at the one venue.

I walked down the aisle to “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” – Bach. We had a string quartet play at the wedding. Their repertoire included lots of Beatles songs. My stepfather walked me down the aisle and one of my brothers drove me out to the ceremony in his car. We arrived five minutes early and had to wait for everyone to be ready for us.”

Justine says “We were relaxed enough during the ceremony to just enjoy ourselves and had a good laugh at a few moments. I remember being concerned that my lipstick had come off on Tim’s lips after our kiss!”

Justine’s shoes were bought from Country Road in Melbourne. Tim wore Campers.

The cake was organised by Justine’s mother and made by a family friend who runs “Cake Actually”. The cake had three layers and was Chocolate Torte and Lemon Cream Cheese Butter Cake (in separate cakes of course), with fresh roses as decoration.

Justine says “Because we live in Melbourne, my wonderful Mum in Brisbane helped out and organised things like the cake and all the flowers. She also bought beautiful jugs for the tables, which were filled with bunches of fresh flowers – roses and lisianthus.”

A big thank you to Justine and Tim for allowing us to share your wedding day! Congratulations on your marriage! Also thank you to Todd & Alyda  at Todd Hunter McGaw Photographer for sending over today’s images!
