I have to make an admission. I have an addiction to beautiful wedding books – the kind you leave on your coffee table, curl up on the couch with, and pour over for inspiration.

Sasha Souza is an event planner. I have been admiring her work for years, her use of colour, warm personality and sass have always led me to check out her website for her latest work. She’s based in California but plans events……. well, anywhere! She also writes a pretty fantastic blog. So when I heard she was going to release a book, I immediately signed up for pre order.

‘Signature Sasha: Magnificent Events By Design has 240 pages of beautiful inspiration. Amidst its glossy pages, Sasha takes the reader through the elements of designing an event. This isn’t a book for planning, it’s a book for inspiring you. Sasha’s style is beautifully elegant and not over the top, so each idea is attainable and easy to make your own.

Within the pages are colour spreads, using Sasha’s knowledge and talent with colour – rich copper browns, luscious lime greens and midnight blues. She has a real gift with using unusual colour combinations, and combining unexpected elements and shapes to elicit surprise. The book moves through the signature elements of the event – from drinks and cocktails (laden with ideas on serving your guests beverages in a unique and personal way) to lighting, ceremony settings, and the most gorgeously decorated venues featuring flowers, wonderful lighting and other elements. The cakes featured are to die for!

My favourite part of the book is ‘Love Stories’ – Sasha’s real weddings section. It features completely stunning weddings, and Sasha explains how each wedding came together and the personal story behind each celebration. All the ideas in this book, you can take and modify for your own celebration.

Amidst the words and Sasha’s conversational writing style are the most beautiful of pictures – full double page spreads of ceremony setups, luscious bouquets and table settings. Each is from a real wedding and designed for a real couple.

This is a book that will have you dreaming that anything is possible. You will want to look at it time and again!
