Kate and Tim

Today’s wedding is full of the most vibrant colour! They’ve got such a funky sense of style (echoed in the brides amazing jewelled collar, her gloves, the groom’s gray and black suit and their bouquets!) The reception is filled with colour and life and it’s so clearly reflective of who Kate and Tim are. The (brave, poor) souls also married on Melbourne’s grand final rematch day!

Kate and Tim  met at work, Kate recalls, “I was working on a film clip for one of Tim’s bands. He said that I was a bossy producer.” The couple’s wedding had a very unique theme to it “I choose the theme four seasons in one day as I thought it corresponded with life, love and relationships and is perfectly fitting for Melbourne interesting and unpredictable weather patterns.”

Today’s photographs are by Jonathan Ong who blows me away with his captures. Modern, creative and art worthy, Jonathan’s images are always a joy to look at. The couple’s wedding video was shot by The Bird Collective.

Kate, a creative soul who loves to photograph and create videos designed all the stationery herself. She says “I designed all the graphics  – I love graphic design and hope to branch out from video and photography into wedding graphic design and styling for brides that are down for something a bit different. Our save the date cards were four badges representing the seasons, which we followed onto our pop-out invitations.”

Kate and Tim put their personal touch through every aspect of the wedding. Kate says “I DIYed most of the details and had Tim in the back shed, ‘handymaning’ and spray painting ice-cream cone holders as well joining me in a production line – cutting out our pop-up invitations and pinning on seasonal badges. The couple used What We Wish For for their gift registry.

The four groomsmen had ties that corresponded to a season from Cyberoptix Tie Lab and the bridesmaids had matching seasonal flower posies style by Soil Flowers by Kate Main. The bridesmaids wore gowns from Ae’lkemi .

Kate wore a Karen Willis Holmes strapless gown with a jewelled collar from Sophie Kyron.

Kate and Tim were married at St Mary’s Star of the Sea, West Melbourne.

Kate walked down the aisle to Brandi Carlile – ‘The Story’.

Kate says “Our priest included everyone in on our vows asking them to commit to continue loving and supporting us as friends and as a married couple to which they replied – We do!”

The couple hired a red double-decker bus for their guests.

One of Kate’s favourite memories was having photos taken by the bay “After a tumultuous week weather wise in Melbourne, it could not have been a more beautiful day or more wonderful sunset.”

Kate and Tim held their reception right on the water in  The Harbour Room, Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron in St Kilda.

Kate says “The tables were seasonal themed. Summer was dressed with carnation filled ice-cream cones. Spring – green grass, eggs in hot pinks nests that read love, honour and obey (with obey crossed out of course!) Autumn – we made fairy light leaves that hung from beams above the table and autumn leaf place mats. The bridal table was winter with huge white paper flowers. The cocktails were themed: Spring -Sake Blossom, Summer -Raspberry & Mint Mojito, Autumn -Blood Orange & Pomegranate Caipiroska,  Winter -Pear & Lychee Martini.”

Dinner was a highlight “The food was super amazing. The dessert buffet was incredible and the couple had their photographer set up a smile-booth. “His  smile-booth was an absolute highlight. Guests are still talking about it and I’ve been able to include  photos of them in thank-you cards. ”

The couple’s first dance played homage to their loved ones. Kate says “We danced to Al Green’s – I’m so glad you’re mine. We had a slideshow playing of photos of both of our parents wedding ending with a couple of photos Jonathan took of us during the day.”

Congratulations Kate & Tim! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Jonathan Ong for sharing the photographs today!
