Bec and Chris

I’m never worried when it rains on a wedding day- there’s always the chance for fun umbrellas and gumboots, the colours of the earth are more vibrant and the misty clouds always look romantic to me. So when Bec and Chris had to move their wedding from Point Cartwright to Bec’s family home in Maleny due to the wet weather, I think it just made their day even more romantic! An added little secret romantic bubble was Bec’s pregnancy- she was 16 weeks pregnant on her wedding day!

Bec recalls how she met her husband Chris. “We met via Facebook. We grew up in the same town and knew the same people but never actually met before. Chris works away on an oil rig and was on a five week stint at the time we began messaging each other. We decided to meet up on the first weekend of his week off, but as the week got closer we couldn’t wait the entire week to meet each other and met up the night he got back home. We spent every spare minute of that week together having an absolute blast. It was the week we fell in love and realised that this person could be the one for us.”

Photos today are by Andrea Sproxton Photography who has taken such beautiful images of today’s wedding and made the most of the rainy day! I love the natural style Andrea shows!

Bec wore a gown from Bridal Chic with her hair and makeup by Allure Hair and Beauty. She carried a bouquet styled by Maleny Wedding Flowers with jewelery from Sportsgirl.

Bec walked down the aisle to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson. Bec says ” It’s one of our favourite songs and describes us to a ‘T’!” Kate Witton married the couple.

Bec’s memories of the day are filled with poignant moments. “My favourite memory is seeing him waiting for me while I walk down the aisle to our favourite song… and the part where we were announced as husband and wife and shared our first kiss!”

Bec and Chris held a relaxed reception at their favourite dining spot. “We chose Maudys as our reception venue as it is a favourite restaurant of ours and is a particularly magical spot around sunset time during summer. We’ve always loved the food there and the staff are always really friendly.  We wanted to keep the wedding really low key, intimate and laid back so skipped all the usual formalities for the reception. My dad was particularly nervous about giving a speech so we told everyone no speech’s. However on the night people decided to give speeches anyway and they were so lovely because they were made up on the spot and were so heart warming and special. In lieu of a traditional cake, the couple chose a cupcake wedding cake by Julie McMullen.

Congratulations Bec and Chris on your wedding day! Thank you for sharing it with us on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to Andrea Sproxton Photography for sharing today’s imagery with us!
