Stephanie and Anthony

A traditional, classic wedding is always heart warming to me – the beautiful church, the clean and simple bouquet, the well pressed suit. This morning’s wedding is a Melbourne classic- Blue-stone church, funky location photographs and a fun, celebratory reception.

Stephanie explains how the couple met. “We first met in first year at University of Melbourne but lost touch in later years as we had different commitments. We reconnected at a friend’s wedding in 2007, however, it still took Anthony months to actually ask me out. When he finally did, he was so nervous that his voice was shaking. And I was so surprised that I told him ‘I’d get back to him’. Obviously I said yes, eventually.”

Stephanie and Anthony made the stationery themselves – topping it off with a black bow.

Stephanie wore a gown by Essence of Australia and carried a simple white bouquet style by Balwyn Events. Her bridesmaids wore gowns from Witchery.

Stephanie and Anthony were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Hawthorn. Stephanie says “We both wanted a traditional ceremony and we chose the Immaculate Conception as it’s a beautiful bluestone building but also because Anthony mistook it for the City Hall during one of our first dates.” Stephanie walked down the aisle to ‘Dream’ by Priscilla Ahn.

The photos were one of the fun times of the day for Stephanie, she recalls “After a number of (unsuccessful) attempts to make me giggle for a photo, Anthony tripped over some camera equipment and that made me break into a fit of laughter. ”

Stephanie and Anthony celebrated with guests at Melbourne venue The Willows. Stephanie says “We short listed a handful of places but as soon as we saw The Willows, we knew it was perfect for the intimate gathering that we wanted for the reception.” Prior to the reception, the couple held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

The couple chose a three tiered cake decorated with fresh flowers and green ribbon from Sweet Temptations.

Stephanie recalls the momentous first dance. “We knew that we wanted to have ‘Suteki da ne’ (Isn’t it beautiful) from Final Fantasy X as the first dance and our good friend (and dancer), Jane choreographed the whole routine. The highlight had to be the dip, which took many attempts to perfect.”

Stephanie and Anthony gifted their guests with “Two Peas In A Pod” salt and pepper shakers, complete with homemade tags by Stephanie. Stephanie says “I loved seeing all those little details which took hours of planning turn into reality.”
