Sayuri and Luke

There’s nothing like a casual wedding on the shores of Australia’s coast line. Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast is a special part of the world and today’s wedding captures not only the beautiful landscape of the area, but the newlyweds embraced the relaxed vibe with their own relaxed wedding. There’s little tradition on this day but a lot of love and a beautiful story to go with it.

Sayuri and Luke met through a friend. “We were ‘secretly’ set up by a mutual friend (Claire) who obviously knew each of us well enough to connect the dots – Claire invited us both to a group dinner where we met and the rest is history!”

Today’s photographs are by David Robertson. I love the feeling of David’s photographs. They’re beautifully simple but capture so much emotion and meaning in each shot.

Sayuri wore a strapless gown from Maggie Sottero from Raffele Ciuca Brunswick with shoes from Carmen Steffans.

Sayuri’s bridesmaid wore an emerald green gown from Arthur Galan.

Sayuri and her bridesmaid’s look was created by Elite Hair Studio. Sayuri recalls “Terrie and Kat from Elite Hair Studio –  they went over and above the call of duty in helping five women get their hair done in time for the big day!” The floral arrangements for the day were by Joycies Flowers.

Before the ceremony, the couple shared a “first look” at Mossy Point Jetty.

Sayuri and Luke threw out tradition and walked down the aisle together to “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.

The ceremony was held at Luke’s parent’s garden in Broulee. They turned their creek side garden into a beautiful ceremony venue.

The guests were a highlight of the day for the newlyweds, including one special addition. Sayuri recalls “I loved our surprise last minute guests! The groom’s cousin surprised us by turning up from Perth at the rehearsal the day before”. The couple provided bottles of water with custom labels from Custom Bottled Water.

Sayuri and Luke held their reception at On the Pier, Batemans Bay. Sayuri says “Belinda and the her team at On The Pier Batemans Bay did not disappoint, with their award-winning seafood cocktail selection, great range of drinks and last but not least – impeccable service which included activities to keep the children entertained! They also took care of the bridal party while we prepared for the day in their lovely boardroom with a gorgeous view of the bay. ”

Although there was no formal dance, the music (with DJ Matt Brown) provided a spontaneous one. Sayuri explains “We didn’t officially have a first dance as there were no formalities on the night, however at some stage we both ended up in the middle of a circle dancing to ‘All Night Long’ by Lionel Ritchie – you could probably call that the first dance!”

Congratulations Sayuri and Luke! Thank you for allowing us to share your wedding day on Polka Dot Bride! Thank you also to David Robertson for sharing today’s photographs!
