Many years ago, a friend of mine had the most spectacular birthday celebration. She wore a gown by Melbourne label Gwendolynne and I remember thinking on the evening, how it was a work of art – the beading, the fabrics, the way it came together was so beautiful. Since then, Gwendolynne has held a special place in my heart.
Gwendolynne Burkin is a Melbourne designer who creates amazing gowns reminiscent of a bygone era. With antique trimmings, incredible lace work and beading each garment tells a story – the subtlety of her work slowly unfolding as you take in the minor details that pull together into her gowns.

She made my wedding dress and I was exceptionally disappointed. She was the only one of my wedding suppliers who really let me down.
The wedding dresses look amazing, very good photography and exceptional good selection of the location.
LJM if you have an issue with something Gwendolynne made you should take it up with her personally rather than post here. I don’t think posting anonymously on forums complaining about someone is very gracious.
On a different note, my God the dress in the first picture is the most beautiful garment I’ve ever seen. It’s draw dropping.
I love how this post really speaks to the etherial trend on the bridal market. The fact that it is dark and sexy makes it artistic in a very mysterious way.

I had my wedding dress made by Gwendolynne and not only was it the best part of planning my wedding everyone said that my dress took their breathe away.
The girls in the salon were so lovely and Gwendolynne is a complete doll.
It was a wonderful experience.
I will treasure the gown forever along with the memories.

Gwendolynne is making my dress at the moment and I am thrilled. It is more than I had ever imagined! Gwendolynne is amazing. Every time I have a fitting she is a pleasure to deal with and meticulous with her work. I can’t wait to wear it now!

I thought this website was supposed to be supportive of brides? It surprises me to see other brides speak this way about another bride’s experience.
I don’t think LJM said anything wrong by expressing what seems to be her genuine and deep disappointment with her Gwendolynne dress. A wedding dress is a big thing in a woman’s life. She has a right to say what she experienced. And I think that she did so in a dignified manner.
But the reason I’m posting this is that it makes me uncomfortable when people use the word “slander” to try to silence legitimate debate. And it’s usually done by the powerful, or those with commercial interests, at stake.

I had my dress made by Gwendolynne a couple of years ago and it was divine! It was a brilliant experience and my dress was perfection. I loved it!!!! The new collection looks amazing. Wish I was doing it all over again.
I remember shooting that series for the lovely Gwendolynne Burkin in her Studio in Fitzroy.We set this shoot up for 2 weeks before hand.
