Kendra and Zan

As Summer and long days at the beach are hurtling towards us full throttle, it’s time to gear into beach weddings again. The backdrop of the rolling waves, the milky golden skies and the rugged landscapes make such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding and really, there are few places so immersed in nature!

Kendra, explains how she met her husband Zan. “I had just moved into a new home and needed a security door added to my front door.  Zan came and quoted and got the job.  3 years later the lock broke so I had to call him to come fix it.  I called him up not 100% sure that I had the correct company, I mentioned this to him and mentioned the street I lived on not expecting it to mean anything to him.  Straight away he knew who I was and even remembered my name!… I hadn’t told him who I was so I was blown away.  He said he had never forgotten me.  One year later we were engaged.

The funny thing was I ended up selling my house 2 weeks later,  we often remember this and think how lucky we were that the lock broke when it did.”

Photos today are by Adori Studios. I always love the clean, fresh captures Adori produces and the shots of Kendra and Zan’s wedding have plenty of candid laughter – my favourite kind!

Kendra wore a strapless gold coloured gown by Elizabeth De Varga. Her bouquet of blooms was styled by A Sculpted Leaf and she accessorised her wedding day look with a bracelet from Cinderella Bella. Kendra’s wedding day makeup was styled by Kim Image Specialist and her hair was styled by Erin from Vanilla Hair Salon.

The groom wore a suit from Ello Moda.

Kendra and Zan made the stationery themselves. Kendra walked down the aisle to “Marry Me” by Train.

Kendra and Zan were married by Desley Robinson (07 5539 1342) on the rooftop of the Plantation Resort at Rainbow and Rainbow Beach Hotel. Kendra remarks “Straight away we knew that if we got married locally we wanted to get married at Rainbow Beach, it was our first trip away and we have spent many special occasions at the Plantation Resort at Rainbow since then.”

Kendra says “We had a couple of funny moments, I was a little overeager and blurted out ‘I do’ before the celebrant had a chance to finish asking me.

Another was during the exchange of rings, my heart dropped when no matter how hard I tried I could not get Zan’s ring onto his finger. I was just starting to panic when I realised that he had given me the wrong hand!”

The couple chose to have their location photographs alone with their photographer. Kendra explains, “Bec was wonderful, from the moment we met her we knew that she was the one.  She just ‘got us‘ and that was reflected in her beautiful photos of our day. A number of friends have told us that they aren’t that happy with their wedding photos.  We love ours.. now we just have to try and narrow down our favourites. We are so glad we took the time to find an amazing photographer.”

The sweet thank you bunting and reception bunting was created by Hayley Shum of This little Heart of Mine.

Kendra recalls “We loved having our photos taken for the location shots.. it gave us an hour or so where we got to reminisce over the ceremony and enjoy some time alone together.

Zan loves the beach and the water so it was lovely that we got to include that in our shots.”

The reception continued at the Plantation Resort at Rainbow and Rainbow Beach Hotel. Kendra remarks “Nicole from the Rainbow Beach Hotel was so easy to work with and so accommodating with any of our requests. She was such a huge help on the day.. even though she was nearly 9 months pregnant and supposed to be on maternity leave!  On the night the bar and waiting staff were so happy and helpful. We spent a couple of days in Rainbow Beach after the wedding and the staff involved in our wedding paid us extra special attention whenever we dined at the restaurant.”

Kendra’s creative flair was used ion the stationery, she says “I designed, printed and made all the wedding stationery myself including invitations, save the date and place cards.” The three tier wedding cake was made by A Beautiful Cake by Mary Brown.

Kendra remarks “We loved having our family and friends there to celebrate with us, the intimacy of a small wedding was beautiful and many people commented on how lovely it was.”

Kendra and Zan danced to “Everything” by Michael Buble. Kendra recalls “We had dance lessons (at Ballroom Moves) for a month or so before the wedding, it was so nice to be able to get up in front of everyone and show them what we had learnt.  Zan often remarks how glad he was that we had those lessons and that it was one of his most memorable moments from the day.” DJ Jerry Brown kept guests celebrating on the dance floor long after the sun had set.

Congratulations Kendra and Zan! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Adori Studios for sharing today’s photographs!
