Lucy and Russell

I have such a gorgeous nautical style wedding for you this afternoon. The ceremony took place on Sydney Harbour with the bride arriving at the ceremony by Italian speed boat – so romantic don’t you think? The red, white and blue touches throughout the day and general relaxed nature of it all makes me happy. Of course the glowing newlyweds help that too!

Lucy explains how she and Russell met. “We met in London. Working together in an Advertising agency. Working together for a while before starting up a conversation over a few beers”

Photos today are by SugarLove Weddings who always capture harbour weddings so beautifully. I love pouring over the atmospheric shots of today’s wedding – each one making me feel like I was a part of the day and it’s surroundings.

Lucy says “Russell did all invites and stationery. They included unique place settings, an order of the day with information on the cruise and harbour locations, and the thank you cards. The main feature of the stationery was a piece of paper art.  The day featured bouquets of simple roses styled by Enchanted Rose.

Lucy wore an asymmetrical gown from Johanna Johnson with shoes from Cinderella Bella.

The bride, her father and bridesmaid travelled to the ceremony on a wooden Italian speedboat ‘La Dolce Vita’.

Lucy and Russell held their ceremony aboard the Commissioner II boat, and guests enjoyed a cruise around Sydney Harbour before Lucy arrived. The ceremony took place while moored  near Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.

Lucy walked down the aisle to Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba by Handel.

Of their ceremony venue, Lucy remarks “The boat is a well maintained classic 80′ motor-yacht. Completely refurbished, it has great features like 2 decks a large interior with polished wood floorboards. We loved it because it suited us for wet or dry weather and looked great”

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a cruise around Sydney Harbour before docking at Balmoral Pier as the sun began to set. Lucy describes the wedding day as “A way to show all our foreign guests the city we live in and the places we love.”

The couple had two photographers on their day. Lucy explains “We had Bradley Patrick as the principal photographer following the bride from preparations to the ceremony. Then dedicated to the bride and groom. His assistant, Lauren was assigned to following the guests and capturing all the candid moments of the day.

Both, were fantastic at capturing the day with style and creativity.”

The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Peppers Formal Wear.

Lucy and Russell held their reception upstairs at the Bather’s Pavillion. Lucy says “The Bathers Pavilion was chosen to represent the best of the classic beach side of Sydney. It is an amazing building with amazing chefs. The food and venue turned out fantastic!”

Guests enjoyed a beautiful wedding cake created by Celebrations by Cakes Plus.

Guests were entertained throughout the night by Jodie Stubbs and her three piece band including the newlywed’s first dance to  Van Morrison’s ‘Moondance’. Lucy remarks “Unrehearsed and no toes were stepped on.”
