Emily and Ryan

I really love today’s Canadian engagement shoot shot by Kimberley Genevieve – it feels like what every summer day should be. Basking in the sunshine, the feel of the green grass under your feet, sticky icecream dribbles running down your hands and the sweet relief of the shady green trees.

Emily and Ryan both shared their love story with me to share with you. Emily starts “Ryan and I met in our first year of university. We knew each other (but not formally) for a while before we actually met. He worked in the on-campus convenience store called Abstentions and somewhere along the way I developed a huge crush. I was referring to him as “Cute Abstentions Guy” to my sisters long before we actually met. I would go in (too often) and try to catch his attention while buying iced tea. Meanwhile he stumbled across my blog and apparently was reading it before he even really knew who I was. He stayed in Ottawa the summer after freshman year, and after discovering we had all the same friends, we were introduced at a party. He showed me this vintage wolf t-shirt he had bought for $1 (so proudly), which made me laugh and we kept talking all night. He asked me out for about a month until I finally agreed. I was so completely happy I danced home after our first date. It’s flown by, but it’s been a better two and a half years than I could have ever imagined.”

“Ryan’s the sweetest person I know… he lifts me over big puddles, brushes glass out of the way (a la Lloyd Dobler), he rubs my head when I’m tired and comes up with the best surprises and nicknames. He makes me more easygoing, which is something I often need, and he’s just a really good person. More than anything, he’s my best friend, and he makes me laugh more than anyone else. If I have exciting news, he’s the first one I want to tell. He makes me want to travel the world and do whatever makes me happy and be as wonderful as I can be. That’s how I knew he was right!”

Ryan continues… “I knew it was meant to be when I realized I couldn’t go five minutes without thinking about her, and as a result having a huge grin on my face permanently!”

“The best things about Emily are her laugh, her smile and her goofy personality. I love nothing more than seeing her smile. Having someone to be serious with, be a geek with or just be goofy with is priceless. She makes me feel like the happiest, safest, most loved person in the world. I always have something to look forward to with her.”
