Wilson and Alisha
It has been just a little over 5 months since our wedding day. Although some of the details have begun to fade, I still vividly remember Wilson overwhelmed with emotions as I walked down the aisle towards him – the start of our forever. Our wedding day was a warm, crisp, sunny, (winter!) day filled with an abundance of tears and laughter. We wanted our day to be a reflection of what mattered most in our lives – our love for God, our love for family and friends, and our love for one another. Our friends and family helped out in every way possible. From sewing cute little bags filled with afternoon tea, to marrying us, to running the show for us! Our wonderful suppliers were supportive from the very start of our planning to the very day. They understood our theme, and truly went above and beyond to deliver what was in our imaginations.
We started our day with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, to honour our families. This was the first time I have ever worn a cheongsam (traditional Chinese dress), and to make it even more special, it was one which I borrowed from Wilson’s sister!
We then travelled to Taronga Zoo for our ceremony. We loved this space for its beautiful light, its simplicity, and its natural surrounds. It was such a joy to see our family and friends together in the one space! Wilson and I exchanged our personally written vows, and it was here we were declared husband and wife!
Following the ceremony, we had some time at the beautiful Balmoral Beach for our location shoot. This time was such a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the commitment we had just made to one another, and to bask in each other’s beaming smiles.
We loved how our photographer, Linda Truong had so much fun with the photos, and captured the different personalities of our bridal party.
My bouquet was made by Sydney Wedding Flowers and featured a selection of pale cream and pink David Austin roses, pale pink orchids, stock, dusty miller foliage.
Our decorations were full of personal touches, and based around a delicate theme of lace and pearls – a beautiful combination echoing the essence of elegance, and grace.
Our reception was held at the exquisite Sergeants Mess, who took care of us throughout the night. The food was divine, the service was impeccable, and the surrounds just simply stunning. Our cake was made by the wonderful Faye Cahill Cake Designs, with a striking design that featured the lace on my dress!
Our wedding day was all that we had hoped and imagined – and even more! We are so grateful to everyone for sharing in our special day.
Ms Gingham says: I love all the personal touches in this beautiful wedding. Thanks to Wilson and Alisha for sharing their celebration with us today.
Alisha says: “Unlike most girls, my fascination with weddings didn’t begin when I was a little girl. It began when when I first co-ordinated a friend’s wedding. Never before had I felt such an array of emotions. Every moment, every emotion was amplified in my own heart strings. The anticipation leading up to the big day, the nerves walking down the aisle, the jitters when saying the two life changing words; ’I do’, the butterflies in the stomach before the very first kiss as husband and wife. I lived every moment with her, and could not think of a more special union between two people utterly in love. Other than weddings, I love music, baking, eating, a good soy chai latte and sharing quality time with friends and family. I love DIY projects – anything handmade is a plus for me!”
