The style of Sarah of Photography by Sarah J is “all about working the photography to suit you and your day (not the other way around), it’s about letting you be you and me being me and the day be the day.” In a nutshell that encapsulates her style – unobtrusive, letting the day unfold with moments as they happen, photographed to remember, with a sense of style and fun. What more could you ask for in a photographer? Not much I say – so let the celebrations begin!

We asked Sarah of Photography by Sarah J five questions in five minutes:

What is your favourite after five drink?

If I’m at home it’s a glass of red! But if I’m out, I’ll have a sneaky Mojito! It takes me straight back to Santorini where spent some time only a few months ago. One sip and I’m back in that quiet bar overlooking the sea watching the sun go down surrounded by some fabulous people I met only the week before.

Your favourite weekend getaway?

Bright in the High Country Victoria! If I’m not shooting a wedding there in Autumn I always try to get there while the leaves are changing colour. Think every colour conceivable, the best wineries, incredible food, a completely chilled out place, it’s definitely Victoria’s best kept secret.

Favourite restaurant?

Gosh there are so many! The first one that pops in to my head is a great little Japanese Restaurant on Chapel Street in Melbourne, though I have no idea what it’s called, but I know exactly where it is and will find almost any excuse to go there when I’m in town.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

Realistically? Probably two slices of toast with Cheesybite unevenly spread and slammed together in to sandwich form, so I can eat it on my way to Church because I slept in as long as possible after I got home late from wedding the night before. Haha.

Your favourite wedding story?

There are many! But one that comes straight to mind happened just a few weeks ago. The groom sang to the bride the same song he sang to her when they first met at the Portsea Pub. He was doing a gig there and wanted to get her attention so he sang to her, at the wedding reception he sang that same song again and had everyone laughing, it was great!
