Who doesn’t like receiving beautiful invitations in their mail? After a long day at work, something unique lying in your mailbox can actually spice up the rest of your evening and make you smile. Wouldn’t every bride want to have an impact like that on friends and family? Lace, Satin, Calligraphy, Buckles indeed define an exquisite invite, but what about trying something ‘different?’

Boxed invitations is a new trend slowly penetrating into the Australian market. Adding a bit of luxury and lots of grace to the stationery, boxed invites make a statement for sure. They are not just lovely to receive but are also a utility thereafter as they can be used as pretty jewellery boxes or keepsakes from the wedding.

If you’re concerned about the cost of boxed invitations you can cut costs by using thicker paper/cardboard boxes that look quite classy and are easy on the pocket as well. If you have your heart set on the pricier ones though think about giving them to only family and close friends and the bridal party. You can then customise the message inside and ask them to be a part of the bridal party or invite them to make a speech at the reception. The box can be easily matched with the main invite you plan to send out to everyone else and so the theme remains consistent, with a little bit of extra love for the special people in your life. If you decide to mail them though, it’s best to place the invite boxes in a mailing box to protect them from the elements (and the odd dog trying to catch the post-person).

Options for colours and fabrics are plenty ranging from simple fabrics, leathers and wooden boxes for a garden wedding. You could decorate them with the same accessories that your bridesmaids will be wearing and then carry this theme through to the favor boxes at the reception and even the ring boxes at the wedding!

So, the next time you are looking for an ‘out of the box’  invitation idea, consider boxed invitations and be prepared to wow!

Ms Gingham says: We’ve been seeing more of this trend lately like this recent example here. Customization to your theme is the key and remembering to ahem… “think outside the box” (pardon the pun).

Shrinkla says: “I believe in sharing! Any piece of information you share doubles up to become a great idea and so I started my own company called ’Let’s Talk Invites’. A drooler over all beautiful things, innovative concepts and finer details I love my work! Having done my Masters in Marketing and Events, I was always enchanted by weddings. Everything from the colour of the table cloth to the flower perched on the bridesmaid’s hair. Currently running my own Invitation and Stationery Business in Melbourne, I am also doing a certification in Wedding Planning. I am also passionate about photography and writing. I have started writing as a guest blogger on a few wedding websites and have my own little expression through my blog.”
