Michael and I met through mutual friends and were immediately relaxed and comfortable with each other. We got engaged on our daughter’s first birthday. He went in to get her out of her cot in the morning and brought her out holding the box he had hid in her room and sat down beside me with it. I opened the box and he nervously told me they loved me very much and wanted us to be a family forever. It was very lovely and I was over the moon! The wedding planning pretty much kicked off straight away. I was lucky enough to have 4 close friends all getting married before us so we had plenty to talk about!

We wanted to have a wedding that had lots of personal touches of us throughout the day. My Maid of Honour had the most beautiful Garter made for me. My bridesmaids also took care of my something blue giving me a beautiful ring with blue stones in it. It was such a special moment while we were getting ready.

Having my best friends, my daughter and other important women in my life with me before hand was very special. We had a lot of fun and they calmed my nerves and built my excitement. Once the photographer arrived the day just flew by! The girl’s dresses were Bari Jay and all of our shoes were from Novo. We had a lovely morning getting our hair done by Dina from Dina’s Hair and Beauty and makeup by Danielle at Lounula Nails and Beauty. The flowers we bought as single stems and a friend and I put them together into the bouquets and bound them in ribbon.

I found my dress from the fashion gallery in Townsville. It really is true once you know you know.. about the man and the dress! I wore a flower in my hair that was originally pinned on the front of the dress but I had it made into a hair piece.

I had my grandad walk me down the aisle to Adele’s “to make you feel my love”. What an amazing feeling to walk in and see everyone you love in the one place and see all your planning come together. We were married by celebrant Jenny Stevens. Together we created a ceremony that was so personal and perfect.

My photographers were Stephen and Hayley Lane from Stephen Lane Photography. They were just amazing. Not only did they take the most amazing pictures but the afternoon was an absolute ball and they did the most beautiful slideshow at our reception showing our guests some of the shots from the day. It was a talking point for weeks to come!

Our cake was a lovely gift from friends and owners of Plaza Hot Bread and Pies in Townsville. We had individual boxed white chocolate mud cupcakes and a white chocolate top cake. They also made cookies with my guest’s names piped on them instead of place cards. Both cake and cookies were absolutely delicious. My bridesmaids and I spent the night before boxing cakes, bagging cookies and listening to 90s music. It was heaps of fun.

Our decorations were by Dreamscene Events and I had a friend make the centerpieces. My brother was our DJ for the day. Music was important to us and he helped excuted the music perfectly. I was very lucky to have so many friends and family help out throughout the day.

The reception was held at the Holiday Inn Townsville. It was filled with great food and drink, lovely speeches and plenty of dancing. The best man, MC and I thought it would be funny if we played a trick on Michael. The MC blindfolded him and the best man snuck in with his pants rolled up and a garter on his leg. Michael was none the wiser and managed to pull the garter completely off the best man’s leg without realising. It was absolutely hilarious. The rest of the night was filled with so much dancing and so much fun that the party continued on even without us until the early hours of the morning.
