Anna & Tom
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- there is magic to be had with a wedding at home. Perhaps it’s celebrating something so special in the place where you unwind on a Sunday, hang out the washing, plant your favourite blooms and open your curtains to see every day. It sometimes seems only right that a wedding takes place at the home you have built with your beloved. Anna and Tom’s wedding day was festive that’s for sure but also full of love and beautiful touches.
Photographs today- the bright and cheerful photographs, are by Insight Creative.
Anna, a graphic designer designed the invitations herself.
On having their wedding at home, Anna says ” We had only bought the house a few months earlier and couldn’t find anywhere that fit what we wanted, so it became the obvious choice. We also wanted the freedom to decorate everything and have complete creative control.”
Anna and Tom hired stylist Carbine Avenue to help pull their wedding day together. Anna recalls “With the help of our stylist, we handmade almost all of our decorations. We cut out hundreds of paper hearts and sewed them together for our ceremony backdrop, made all of our own tablecloths, and tore hundreds of strips of fabric which were sewn together to make about 130m of bunting.”
Anna and Tom walked down the “aisle” together to “La Vie En Rose” by Edith Pilaf.
Anna and Tom were married by Belinda Tinker . Anna remarks “Our celebrant was so lovely and was very encouraging with the strange things we wanted in our ceremony.”
Anna’s father provided his vintage 1945 MG TC for transport.
Of their photographer, Anna says “She’s a friend of ours. She’s extremely creative and puts every bit of effort into her photography. She’s passionate which worked well for us!”
Guests received strawberry and apricot jams handmade by Anna’s mother as wedding favors.
A good friend of Anna and Tom’s made them three wedding cakes- one chocolate and two butter cakes.
The wedding was filled with handmade touches. Anna explains “We had all vintage cups and saucers, all the vases where owned by myself and my family. I wanted field flowers and colourful flowers that I let the florist decide on. I had mainly hand made decorations. My hens night was a “slave labour”night where my friends cut out paper hearts and my mother made food to keep them happy.”
Anna says ” Karen from Carbine Avenue made the wedding look beautiful, I don’t know how I would have put it together without her. She put so much time and effort in. ”
Michels Catering provided food for the event. Anna says” The food was beautiful, the wait staff were so friendly and helpful and the service was impeccable.”
Guests danced late into the evening to Anna and Tom’s music collection, including one special surprise performance. Anna recalls “My female cousins had a surprise performance late in the night. They dressed up as the members of the Backstreet Boys and sang and danced to “I want it that way” .We had danced to this when I was younger and I played Nick Carter. “
Congratulations Anna and Tom! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Insight Creative for sharing today’s images!
