Courtney and Rob

Queensland provides some of the most spectacular backdrops in the country for weddings- today’s celebration at Glengariff Historic Estate almost glows as the sun shines through the greenery. It makes for an almost magical wedding day.

“I had just moved to Roma after being transferred there from Cairns.  Rob was living in the house opposite me with 2 other guys.  We met at our teacher induction evening but it wasn’t until he and his room mate came and mowed our lawn that things took off.  Rob decided that we didn’t need to thank them with a carton of beer, but instead ‘my smile would have been enough’!  Things progressed from there and soon, Rob was cooking me dinner most nights – I didn’t have far to go!”

Photographs today are by Deep Grey Wedding Photography who seem to always know how to make things glow!

Courtney carried a bouquet of purple blooms with crystals from Bouquets With Bling.

Courtney and Rob held their wedding at Glengariff Historic Estate. Courtney explains “Glengariff is just so beautiful and picturesque; we just couldn’t go past it.  There packages are very well priced and with mid-week weddings receiving a discount, this fitted in well with our budget.  We really liked that the ceremony, photos and reception were all in the one place.  This meant our guests didn’t have a huge wait while we were off having photos, and they didn’t have to travel to another location.  Glengariff mainly just do weddings so everything was super organised and the day ran so smoothly.”

Courtney’s sister ( Shannon Morris from Bossy Hair) styled Courtney’s hair. “I had very short hair when Rob and I got engaged.  My sister convinced me to grow it and we also bought clip in hair for the day.  By the time the wedding came around, my hair was just above my shoulders.  With the clip in hair and the amazing job my sister did, I ended up with beautiful barrel curls and a full, full head of hair!  I loved, loved, loved it!!” Amanda from Bossy Hair did the girls’ makeup.

Courtney walked down the aisle with her grandfather to Canon In D.

The couple were married by Father Peter Gillam who had years early, married Rob’s parents.

Courtney wore a strapless Pronovias gown from White Lily Couture. Courtney’s bridesmaids wore purple halterneck gowns. The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Spurling.

Of their photographers, Courtney remarks “We loved how Deep Grey does an Engagement shoot.  This gave us the chance to get used to being around a camera and how Adam worked before the big day.  We knew what to expect on our big day!  With the short amount of time we had in between the ceremony and reception, Adam managed to take some amazing and truly beautiful shots.  We were so lucky too with the weather and he captured the change throughout the afternoon.  Adam stayed right through the evening and got some fantastic images of our bridal waltz.  We really liked the way Adam just fitted in – as opposed to being in the spotlight, annoying guests.  We are so happy with our photos and get so many comments on them.”

Courtney says ” Many people will tell you that their wedding day is truly unforgettable, ours was that and more – it really exceeded our expectations. ”

The couple gave  favors from Bonbonniere. They had so much trouble choosing they chose eight different items and matched them to their guests personalities.

The wedding cake was made by Cakes by Judy C. Courtney recalls “We had a 2 tier square cake in white & black with silver features.  Black intricate swirls around the side to match our stationary topped with purple sugared roses.  It was choc & white mud cake! ” The couple assembled their own stationery after purchasing it from My Big Event. Courtney explains “It was designed and created by us – printed by ‘My Big Event’.  We were able to order a part DIY package which meant it fitted in better with our budget.  My Big Event printed all the invites and RSVP cards which they also sent pre-cut.  All we had to do was stick it all together!  We had a DL envelope to enclose all the details including Wishing Well card and Accommodation details all sealed with a wax seal with RC.”

Mobydisc provided the music for the reception , kicking off with Courtney and Rob’s first dance. Courtney says “It was fabulous!  Our song was ‘You make me smile’ by Uncle Kracker.  At the time we were living in Roma and we were able to have a lesson with a local ballroom dancer who taught us the Waltz and some moves!  We danced out on the grass area at Glengariff with LED fairly lights lighting up the dance floor!”
