When Scott & Libby married, Libby shared some of her very special bride wisdom with us “One thing we learnt was that it was entirely achievable to have a beautiful and special wedding without blowing the bank AND without needing to have a really long engagement. We probably spent $15,000 at the most, and only had a 5 month engagement, without having prepared a thing before that. It wasn’t easy, plus I was still at uni so had a little extra time on my hands, but we were so happy with out day and proud to have achieved so much. I joke that I should put the planning of our wedding on my resume because it was such an achievement!”

“We also sat down before we made any plans for the wedding and discussed what was most important to us, what was not so important, and what we might be able to do ourselves. Despite the challenges in keeping to a tight budget, we really wanted to not spend needlessly so in some ways we really embraced the challenges of a small budget. Scott is very creative, so we designed our invites and had them printed at a fraction of the cost of what it may have been otherwise. The decorations were pretty much all DIY (thanks to enlisted friends and family!) and for most other things we either did a huge amount of research to find the best deals or options, or simply had a lot of luck. Our extensive research, for example, saved us around $7000 or 80% off the standard prices of our flights and accommodation on our honeymoon. That was a very proud moment for us!!”
