With an overwhelming amount of choices out there in the wedding industry today you can’t help but feel indecisive when it comes to locking in the visual aspects of your big day. Do you go with the pretty warm white fairy lights or would the more modern paper lanterns that caught your eye at the markets the other day look better strung around your venue? Flowy full length bridesmaids dresses vs that gorgeous 50’s tea dress style? The carnations or the roses …

The best thing to do to give you a clear idea on what you want your wedding to look like is to commit to an overall look that you are hoping to achieve. Elegant and classic or vintage and whimsical? Chilled out country or breezy beach style? Once you have decided on your overall look begin to gather images from magazines and blogs, swatches of materials and personal photographs that will compliment your desired style of your day.

With all your pretty ideas at the ready, begin to create your wedding inspiration board. By collating all your images, ideas and inspiration you have collected it will give you a clearer idea on selecting your colour scheme, choosing your decorations and deciding on finer wedding details. It will also allow you to communicate a visual of what you want your day to look like to your suppliers. Not to mention, keep you focussed on achieving the look that you originally planned for.

I recently put together the below inspiration board for a client, her simple requests were; relaxed atmosphere, country, dusty pink, roses and fairy lights, fairy lights, FAIRY LIGHTS!

Ms Gingham says: I would suggest you create a folder on your desktop where you can save all your images as you travel around the internet for inspiration. Then use an operating system such as powerpoint or photoshop to collate the images so that you can see how they fit in visually next to each other. Another great way to group your images is to start a new board on pinterest. You can even follow Polka Dot Bride for more inspiration!
