Katy and Steve

This wedding had me at hello, I mean at the location- Kangaroo Valley is one of the most stunning regions in Australia and my gosh what a beautiful backdrop it made for the wedding of Katy and Steve. Elegant, relaxed with a heck of a lot of dancing!

Bennett Photography captured the moments I love their dreamy style of photography that swept me right into the story!

Katy chose a gown from The Wedding Boutique and shoes from BHLDN for her wedding day look.

Katy and Steve held their wedding celebration at Minimbah Farm, Kangaroo Valley. Katy explains “We just fell in love with Kangaroo Valley! Not only for the views and surrounding countryside, but also for the pure Australian atmosphere it holds.”

Katy’s cousin Teal Wicks sang her down the aisle. Katy remembers, “I loved my cousin singing our processional song of “Heavenly Day” by Patti Griffin was so beautiful I nearly lost it as I came down the aisle to meet Stephen at the alter with the valley shining in the background. It was just magic. We both agree we will never forget listening to each other recite our vows to one another. It made everything complete, honest and real which is the whole point of the day in the first place. Plus neither of us cried, which we were quite proud of.”

The bouquets and floral arrangements were styled by Alison Kennon Botanical Art & Styling.

Katy remembers “Our favourite part of the day was the photo shoot after the wedding where it was just the two of us…being in love and blissing out from the ceremony we just experienced. Thanks to them we felt comfortable to be ourselves and be in the moment. ”

Steve wore a navy suit from Gibson and his groomsmen wore navy blue suits from Oxford . Katy’s bridesmaids wore gowns in shades of blue from Lela Rose , After Six & Jenny Yoo.

Katy, inspired by wedding blogs (including Polka Dot Bride!) created a lot of the decor elements herself. She explains “We were very hands on with the little details of this wedding and for the most part all the bits we imagined actually came off. Everything from my Grandmother’s cake toppers from her wedding 60+ years ago to the pavlovas made by Stephen’s mother to the kangaroo and wombat dinner seating parties. ”

Katy says “We are so lucky to have some of the most wonderful people in our lives from both sides of the globe and it is those people that made our day so special. Plus, they helped create a most magical and amazing party! What can I say…Bohemian Rhapsody sung at the top of our lungs to end the night? Yes, definitely.”

A fantastic part of the dance floor? A surprise flash mob! Katy explains “The Flash Mob – yep…we did have a flash mob…choreographed and all and guess what – IT WAS AMAZING!”

Congratulations Katy and Steve! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Bennett Photography  for sharing today’s images!
