I do love doing a venue profile and showcasing a beautiful venue for your wedding celebration. Todays has the most incredible view. I think I first fell for that clifftop location years ago when I saw the most beautiful wedding in a magazine. The bride wore the most vividly blue wedding gown and it all came together beautifully as a coastal, summer wedding.

Jonahs, Whale Beach is a beautiful restaurant & boutique hotel located on Sydney’s Northern beaches. Set high upon a clifftop overlooking Whale Beach, a mere 45 minutes from Sydney, the venue has the most stunning views and plenty of spaces for weddings and celebrations.

The property was originally built in 1929 by Constance Vidal as a roadhouse. Weekend excursions would often be had, with folks arriving in motorcars for fairy bread and other treats while enjoying the scenery. The venue now boasts a boutique hotel and award winning restaurant, making it a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city for a beautiful coastal inspired wedding.

The food at Jonahs, Whale Beach is award winning with executive chef Alfonso Alés working along Sommelier Christian Baeppler who manages the hotel’s collection of 5000 wines and champagnes from around the globe. The food makes one salivate with guests able to enjoy a meal in the formal dining room or on the more relaxed terrace. Function menus include tasty treats such as Crumbed Crystal Bay prawn skewers with Romesco sauce, Kingfish carpaccio, shaved vegetables & caviar with pomegranate & lime dressing, Assiette of lamb with eggplant caviar, hommus & rosemary jus and dessert? Options range from Chocolate ganache tart with Tahitian vanilla ice cream to Crème Catalane with cinnamon & orange.

The food has a range of options as it is served – cocktail style, sit down, roaming and even the fun addition of a dessert table allowing guests to choose their own dessert from a decadent buffet.

As for beverages, a wide range of beautiful Australian wines are on offfer as well as the option to upgrade the bubbles to Champagne Taittinger.

The restaurant, of course, also doubles as the wedding space. While the clifftop garden provides the most amazing ceremony location with views across the ocean, the restaurant caters for an intimate wedding feast with floor to ceiling glass windows. The restaurant can hold 100 guests.

There’s also the terrace available for hire, which can hold 48 guests and would would be a beautiful on a balmy summer evening for a more intimate celebration. Couples do have the option of hiring the entire venue exclusively, allowing guests to watch you marry in the gardens, enjoy pre dinner drinks in the lawn and terrace and adjourn to the restaurant for dinner.

Ceremonies on the lawn include seating for 22 guests, ipod docking station and a back up wet weather plan.  The Terrace is suitable for a sit down function while the restaurant can cater for cocktail or sit down celebrations.

On of the big attractions of Jonahs is the luxurious onsite accommodation. Jonahs offers a discounted rate for wedding guests and the rooms? There’s eleven including a private residence which features it’s own private pool, balcony and gardens. Guests enjoy king sized beds, ocean views, private terraces and beautiful limestone bathrooms with jacuzzi baths. Exclusive booking of the venue means couples have to book a number of rooms at Jonahs which makes a nice excuse for special guests to stay a little longer and perhaps even provide a relaxed place to get ready for your day. Most packages include a buffet breakfast and beautiful extras like Molten Brown candles, French champagne and in room massages.
