Kelly & Phil

In my dreams, my life is filled with as many flowers as Kelly and Phil’s incredible urban Melbourne wedding. It does of course help that the incredible Joost Bakker is a  friend of the couple, so their ceremony styling was a little (oh let’s just admit it!) a lot, of incredible!

Photographs today come to us from Laki Sideris who has captured such essence of the wedding- the intimacy, the masses of blooms and the relaxed fun!

The ceremony was held at Kelly’s parent’s terrace house.  It was a very laid-back relaxed affair, in a familiar environment. The Fitzroy terrace was transformed into a walled garden setting with the help of Joost who provided 1000 tulips.

Phil wore a grey Paul Smith suit.

Kelly wore a short gown from Collette Dinnigan with Bally shoes. The bridesmaid and groomsmen wore their own outfits.

Kelly walked down the aisle to ‘Till There Was You’, by The Beatles.

Of their photographer, Kelly remarks “We were given Laki’s details by a friend and were instantly captivated by the beautiful photography on his website. We loved the photojournalistic feel to his wedding photographs. He was wonderful to work with – easygoing, laidback and utterly professional. We couldn’t have been happier with the photographs that he took for us and have had an overwhelmingly positive response from all our family and friends on the images. We sent them all an online link to the photos, which Laki had provided for us, and everyone was so excited to have access to over 600 pics from the day, in high resolution. They were so impressed by Laki’s artistic eye and the way he captured so many aspects of the special day. I would recommend him to everyone!”

Kelly and Phil hired rickshaws to transport them to their reception. Photographer Laki says, ” When Kelly said they planned an intimate inner city affair, with the wedding in Fitzroy and the reception in Collingwood, I imagined a gentle day shooting and knocking back an espresso or two. I didn’t imagine that I would be running alongside a couple of business sized tricycles through traffic, two cameras in hand shooting from the hip paparazzi style. ”

The reception was at CIBI, a Japanese inspired cafe and design space that sells unique handcrafted Japanese wares. A truly unique venue that hosted this wedding as a very special one-off occasion.  Cecilia Fox created the arrangements for the bridal party and floral arrangements for the reception.

For their first dance, Kelly remembers “A lovely friend of ours who is a dance teacher (among many other talents) helped us to pull together a little Charleston-inspired dance to go with one of our favourite songs – ‘Pencil full of lead’ by Paolo Nutini.”

DJ James Cecil kept the guests on the dance floor all night long.

Kelly and Phil, thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Laki Sideris for sharing today’s photographs!
