Stephanie and Moses

Today’s wedding has a touch of whimsy to it. So traditional, so classic but plenty of fun little touches that added a sense of fun and frivolity to the wedding day!

Stephanie and Moses included their story on their wedding invitation which read, “Once upon a time, there was a girl named Stephanie and a boy named Moses. They both went to the same high school, they were in the same year level, they both knew of each other since grade 10, as they were in the same maths class. But the chance to meet or talk to each other never happened.
Until one sunny afternoon in 2002, Moses was sitting down and noticed Stephanie was sitting on the bench beside her with her friends. Moses introduced himself to Stephanie and her friends. Stephanie replied “I know who you are, everyone knows who you are!” So Moses asked Stephanie for her name and Stephanie gave her name to Moses. The thing was, that Moses already knew Stephanie’s name he just wanted the chance to talk to her.
And that was just the beginning for Stephanie and Moses…….”

Beautiful photographs today from Marcus Bell of Studio Impressions who captures moments with such intensity and beauty.

Wedding Dream Services styled Stephanie’s hair and makeup.

Stephanie designed her own gown (as well as her bridesmaids) and had them made in Korea. She explains, “I designed my wedding dress with inspiration from Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta and got it made in Korea using silk organza. As my husband is from Korea, I got the inspiration for the bride’s maids dresses from the traditional Korean hanbok and put a modern twist on it, they were also made in Korea. I also wore blue glittery shoes which matched my theme perfectly as well as the saying wearing something blue, the bride maids also had the same shoes in silver.  ”

Stephanie and Moses chose St John’s Cathedralfor their wedding ceremony. Stephanie explains “The theme of the wedding was stars and the colours blue, white and sliver, as I have a small obsession with stars. ”

Stephanie walked down the aisle to Bridal Match Lohengrin – Wagner.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed lollies, bubbles and cupcakes in the sunshine. Stephanie recalls “After the ceremony we used the outside lawn area of the church to host a little party for all of our guests as we had a small reception. On the lawn we had 4 treasure tables. 1-Photo booth, we had a fuji instax camera and props were people took photos and left messages to put in photo booth, my friends managed to complete the book by the end of the night, doing an awesome job. 2- Lolly table, My mother in law bought all the different jars and vases to create a lolly table using only lollies with the theme of my colours. We bought blue paper cups and stuck stickers on them for the lollies”

“For the Gift table, we bought a lantern candle holder and spray painted black with silver glitter as our wishing well, as our theme was stars. We also put two silver money bank pigs on top and dressed them up as a groom and bride. 4-Drinks- My husband had a friend which had his own beer kegs, which we filled with blue liquor and lemonade, we also served moscato. All tables had blue and sliver table cloths which we just bought material from a fabric store, they also had the letters M & S from Typo and there was signage for each table.”

Stephanie designed the stationery which was printed by Ana Press.

Of their photographer, Stephanie says “Awesome! Just fabulous and exactly what we wanted, worth every penny. As Moses does not like posing for the camera Marcus and Adam were there to capture all the special natural moments of the day.”

The reception was held at Marriott Surfers Paradise.  Stephanie envisaged a ballroom filled with twinkle lights. She says “I loved the fairy light canopy at the reception, I showed the event planner a photo of how I wanted to the reception venue and it turned out perfect, as in my invitation I included the line “Dinner and dancing to follow underneath the stars”, which I wrote before I even found the photo of the reception idea. At the reception we made all the name cards and also made little fill out questionnaires for the guests at their tables. We bought blue cake boxes online and created thank you sticker labels for the boxes.  ”

Cake Star made a five tier wedding cake decorated with blue stars.

Stephanie changed into traditional dress at the reception, recallin,g “At my reception I got changed into a traditional Korean hanbok, which was given to me by the god sister, which she wore at her wedding. The lucky thing was it matched perfectly with my colour scheme. ”

The first dance was something a little special, Stephanie remembers,  “As I had come from a dancing background, I desperately wanted a wonderful first dance, but my husband does not dance. So watched many youtube videos of first dances to get inspiration, in the end my husband organised dance lessons from Mark through Lets Dance Studios. . We actually had four by 2hour lessons the week before the wedding, cutting it quite close. Our dance was a Cha Cha which we choose to lighted the mood and to be complete opposite to our traditional church wedding to surprise our guests. We danced to Guy Sebastian’s Who’s that girl. On the night my husband was quite nervous and did not even want to the dance at all, but with the influence of alcohol he managed to go through with it and we had a standing ovation. He also had lots of his friends comment that they didn’t know he could dance! ”
