Kirra & Matt

This bohemian beauty, held in the Gold Coast hinterland has such a relaxed, beautiful feel to it. From the view from the ceremony location, to the unexpected surprises – Kirra and Matt’s story is definitely worth a cup of tea and a tim tam!

Kirra tells how they met. “Friends introduced us thinking we were perfect for one another. Matt’s friends referred to me as the female equivalent of Matt. We had a 2 year courtship which involved a lot of eating (both being food lovers) camping (both loving the out doors) and socializing with our huge group of friends.

Matt proposed on a camping trip to Moreton Bay Island at a romantic location by an appropriate name – Honeymoon Bay. Our Engagement was celebrated at home with 50+ guests. Polka dots, Pimms punch and mini hot dogs set the vintage theme and guests enjoyed a home made media board for happy snaps.”

Bayleigh Vedelago Photography captured today’s images in a fun, whimsical way. She captured the relaxed emotion of the day in every photograph.

White Ivy Design created the floral arrangements for the day. Kirra carried the antique pony shoe in her bouquet that her grandmother had on her wedding day.

Kirra wore a gown that was bought as a factory sample from Luv Bridal. She paired it with a headband she found on Etsy.

Kirra & Matt held their wedding at Matt’s family property.  Located in Lower Beechmont in the Gold Coast Hinterland. The ceremony was held on a grassy clearing with ocean views from Brisbane to Byron Bay.

Kirra recalls, “I walked down the aisle to DJ Sammy slow remix – Heaven. We signed the register to seeker lover keeper – light all my lights and released doves to Florence and the machine – you’ve got the love.” The arch that the couple wed under was hand painted by them both with a garden bed built at the base allowing vines to grow up and over the altar for years to come.

Broadwings released doves with the couple at the end of the ceremony.

Kirra describes the wedding as, “Vintage, bohemian, country gathering amongst the olive trees where we made a life long commitment and danced the night away in a barn.”

Kirra’s bridesmaids wore gowns in shades of pink from Tawny Holt on Etsy.

Of their photographer, Kirra says, “Bayleigh was referred to me by another photographer after I posted on Facebook my vision for our wedding photography – fresh, quirky and vintage. I instantly loved samples Bayleigh showed me. We met, we clicked and she completely got all my ideas and shared in my excitement. On the day, she brought her professionalism, creativity, attention to detail and great personality which blended perfectly into every special moment. The results are images we will treasure forever which truly represent who we are as a couple. She and Jodie did a fantastic job.”

The reception was held in the converted stables on the property. Kirra explains “We had a cigar and whiskey lounge set up to add a masculine touch. ”

As favors, guests received “Lolly bags with vintage heart conversation lollies with hand written notes attached with wooden pegs”. Each place card has hand stamped by the couple.

The wedding was catered by Red Lantern Catering. Kirra recalls, ” We dined on organic local food served on mismatched vintage glass plates (shared platter style). ”

Of their first dance, Kirra remarks, ” Matt tried backing out of the dance, but after he removed my garter to hot chocolate ‘ you sexy thing’ the DJ played our dance song: Hungry Eyes (Dirty Dancing) so we danced after all – one of our favourite moments! ”

There was one last moment of the night, Kirra recalls, “Matt’s parents surprised us with an amazing fire works display. It was a surreal moment seeing the sky light up over our beautiful country setting in our honour. Our guests are still talking about it!”

Congratulations Kirra and Matt! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us. Thank  you also to Bayleigh Vedelago Photography  for sharing today’s images.
