Today’s vendor of the week is all about the dress! Melanie of Silver Sixpence creates vintage inspired wedding gowns all hand made to order. Melanie works with br4ides all over the world- shipping gowns across country and across the sea! Everything is handmade by Melanie in her home, so you know you’re getting a beautiful quality gown with beautiful detail!

We asked Melanie from Silver Sixpence five questions in five minutes –

What is your favourite after five drink?

I love a good espresso martini… mmm…

Your favourite weekend getaway?

My husband and I love to head up to Mt Tamborine or the Sunshine Coast hinterland to stock up our wine cellar and buy some delicious cheeses – we also love doing a little antiquing here and there.

Favourite restaurant?

It’s been a while since we’ve been out as we are busy with a 1 yr old but I love Lab Restaurant at the Treasury Hotel here in Brisbane – delicious food and such a lovely building. It has become our “special occasion” restaurant and they even catered our wedding reception at the hotel.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

Sunday is family day (well when I don’t get sucked into checking my emails!!) – so we usually head downstairs to one of the cafes for bacon and eggs and a long black to start the day!

Your favourite wedding story?

I really love couples who include a lot of personal touches in their day to make it truly special and meaningful to them, such as choosing to get married on their grandparents wedding anniversary, using pieces of lace in the brides gown from a family heirloom gown, all the little hand made pieces that couples create themselves or taking the time to write quirky personalised vows.
