As a Wedding Planner I met Jonathan from Vibrant Photography at the boutique hotel I was working for at the time. Jonathan has a fun professionalism second to none. Jonathan is a brilliant professional and lovely person. He is so easy to be around. I loved the light he embraces in his photographs. Jonathan captured all the little moments so perfectly and kept coming up with amazing ideas of photos to take and ways to take them. You can tell Jonathan loves what he does and doesn’t take for granted the opportunity to share people’s special days with them. When we decided to appoint Jonathan as our photographer he offered us an engagement photo shoot, or as he calls them – e’session…. which we couldn’t turn down.

We had a short engagement. From the time Hamish proposed to our wedding day was five months. Its crazy how when you add all the Christmas CRAZINESS and the fact that most of my families birthdays, including mine are in March – you begin to run out of days to conduct the e’session. We came across a day that worked. My cousin was getting married mid April. I had already organised a work free day the day before her wedding to fly up to the NSW Mid North Coast, so we decided to make the most of the free day before our 5pm flight and have our e’session then.

As our wedding photos were going to be rural in style, we decided to take our e’session photos around Sydney and by the water. The Rocks, Sydney decided to show off beautifully on the day of our shoot and we spent most of our time embracing the rusticity and beauty of the buildings, artworks and colours there. On our way to the airport we also spent about an hour on one of the beaches out of the city.

We decided not to have props, because we wanted the photos to capture ‘us’ without things in the pics. We also wanted to have the photos a little timeless and relaxed, so we both wore plain jeans and neutral coloured t-shirts. Towards the end of our time in The Rocks we got an ice cream. Jonathan managed to make eating ice cream fun and so he took a few happy snaps then as well.

We spent the whole time laughing and having such fun. We’re incredibly happy with the beautiful photos!

My make-up artist, Danielle Lewy, who is such a dear friend also wanted to do a practice of my makeup before my big day. Therefore I had my makeup done for the e’session as well. It was so nice to work with her and utilize the e’session pics to see how they turned out prior to finalizing my wedding makeup.

Our e’session day was so much fun. Jonathan really is amazing to work with. Behind the camera he (in my opinion) takes the best shots and in front of the camera is the best taxi driver as well…. driving us to the airport on his way home. Service with a capital ‘S’.
