I’m always partial to a wedding venue that offers the best of many worlds – golden sunsets, a fun, modern vibe, accommodation and water views? Today’s venue Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel with it’s recent overhaul tickled my fancy as a fun, relaxed venue for couples looking for something a little laid back and fun!

The venue boasts three event spaces – each with it’s own distinctive feel and personality and each able to suit a wedding, engagement party or anything in between with a modern, fun, fresh vibe!

I have to say, this rooftop bar (aptly named The Top Deck) is what first drew me into this venue. With it’s tropical, California- esque feel I can imagine an engagement party, filled with gin and tonics (or maybe something with a little colour), some great music and as the sun sets plenty of good food and yarning. With amazing views, The Top Deck can hold 120 seated or 200 for a cocktail event.

The Beach Club space is the most relaxed of the areas Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel has on offer. It’s the place you pull up a chair and watch the sun set with a drink and a laugh- with a capacity of 400 it makes a brilliant setting for a Summer engagement party or a relaxed waterside wedding celebration.

However the functions team make it all a little extra special by adding just that extra delicious touch to functions. Love your oysters? Why not select their Oyster Bar option allowing guests to enjoy a selection of fresh Australian grown oysters with your own choice of accompaniments. You might even choose their antipasto, seafood or dessert bar. But my personal favourite? The cheese station (which is where you will find me hanging all night at most parties) with five delicious serve yourself cheeses and an array of accompaniments, well I’m there.

For something a little more traditional without the fresh, beachy vibe, the newly renovated Sunset Room is Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel’s newest wedding space. With a beach inspired Hamptons style, the room features grey timber floors, white interior and it’s own private bar. The room can accommodate 250 guests for a cocktail function or if you prefer a traditional sit down meal, then 150 guests can be seated comfortably.

But because, if you’re like me, food makes or breaks a wedding memory – you’ll be happy to know the menu includes such mouth watering canapes like Cured Gravlax, Beetroot, Avocado Crème, Red Currant Glazed Quail Drummets and House Smoked Sturgeon on Lemon and Herb Blini. For mains, move onto deliciousness like Pan Fried Coorong River Mullet, Crushed Potato, Cray Fish and Lobster Oil or Lemon Myrtle Roasted Chicken Supreme, Fennel Purée and Garlic Chips and for dessert Chocolate Parfait, Passionfruit Brûlée, Nougatine Crisp. Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel has five wedding packages to choose from (ranging from cocktail service to the grand feast which allows guests to enjoy each course in a shared style)

The venue even has 32 suites on site allowing your guests to walk a few steps and be in bed before they know it. Rooms range from harbour view suits with king sized beds, wrap around balconies and kitchenettes to double story accommodation (just right for a family). Each room is well appointed and filled with light and modern interiors. sydney boutique wedding venue10
