Michele and Eric

At the suggestion of our photographer, Natalija Brunovs of i heart weddings, our engagement session took place at Fringe World, Perth’s incarnation of the Fringe Festival. The festival is colourful, quirky, and random, a bit like us, so it was the perfect backdrop for our engagement shoot.

Eric moved to Perth for work in 2005, and although we worked at the same place, we first met at social gathering with mutual friends. It wasn’t until a few years later that we found our friendship had grown into something more. Our wedding took place in March, and I think our celebrant, Danicia Dutry, expressed us perfectly:

“They have similar values and ideas for what they want out of life and that they just balance each other – with Michele providing the grounding force, and Eric the reminder that life doesn’t have to be taken seriously all the time and silliness can be a very appropriate pastime.

In many ways Michele and Eric are each other’s opposite and complement. Eric describes Michele as a stabling, gentle soul who loves to travel while Michele describes Eric as a little bit silly with lots of zany ideas. In the words of Miracle Max out of the Princess Bride – they balance each other like a great BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich); which is paramount to True Love!”

Eric proposed last year in his home town of Melbourne, after dinner followed by a leisurely walk through the city that ended at Queens Bridge, where he proposed on bended knee as the Crown Gas Brigades fired at midnight. It would have been perfectly romantic had it not been for the passing car honking their approval as they drove past.

Ms Gingham says: Gorgeous shoot! Absolutely adore your dress Michele!

Michele says: “I’m a telecommuting web developer based in Perth. I’m a magpie and love to learn how things work. I found planning our wedding an incredible amount of information overload, but in such a good way because I had the opportunity to learn about so many new and amazing things.”
