Sarah and Chris’ Mornington Peninsula Winery Wedding

Sarah & Chris

Escaping the city for one of my favourite parts of the country doesn’t sound like  shabby way to celebrate a wedding and Sarah and Chris took to the stunning Mornington Peninsula for their wedding day for the most delightful of days.

Sarah tells their story. “Chris and I met when we were quite young. We were introduced by my sister. No special story of how we met, everything special started happening the next 10 years after.”

Sarah and Chris hired Glass Slipper Photography to capture their wedding photographs –  love the fun, breezy mood to each shot!

Sarah wore a gown from Brides Desire.

Sarah and Chris married at Seawinds, Arthurs Seat. National Park. Sarah notes, “My parents got married at Seawinds, so when we decided we wanted to get married in a garden, it was an easy choice. We got married under a beautiful tree which made the perfect backdrop. And the other gardens were beautiful for photos.”

For the wedding cars, Sarah and Chris tracked down the owner of Sarah’s late grandfather’s antique cars, who drove them to the ceremony.

Sarah walked down the aisle to ‘A Thousand Years’, Christina Perri.

There was plenty of DIY at the wedding, Sarah recalling, “My dad made our wishing well out of a tree trunk. My parents and sister made the signs for the gardens. We made all the invitations, signs and gifts. My mum made the ring pillow, my niece’s dress and my veil. I designed the bridesmaid dresses and we had them made by a friend. Chris made the arbour for the champagne table at the ceremony. We made all the food for the ceremony. And we put together a photo booth ourselves with props and our own camera. And lots of other little things.”

Of their photographers, Sarah recalls, “The photographers were amazing! I was quite nervous in the morning, but as soon as they were there I felt relaxed. They made the whole day fun, for Chris and I and our family and friends. The photos are so artistic and beautiful, we couldn’t be happier. Our friends and family are still talking about them.”

Pier 10, Shoreham was chosen for the reception Sarah explaining, “Pier 10 was the perfect venue for us. There was a lot of space inside for a dance floor. Plus it has plenty of tables in the outdoor area, which backs on to the lawn and vineyard. The service and food was amazing, as it is every time we go there.”

Sarah’s sister made the wedding cake.

For their first dance, Sarah remembers, “Chris wanted to do the dirty dancing dance as our first dance. After practicing for some months I was too scared I’d fall during the lift. So we thought of the most special song to us which is ‘Don’t wanna miss a thing’ by Aerosmith. Sounds tacky, but Chris said that the first time we met he sung it in his head the whole night. So that’s a special song now.”

Congratulations on your marriage Sarah and Chris! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Glass Slipper Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!

Very pretty! Can vouch for Pier 10 as a very relaxed, fun venue too. It’s one of our favourite local hangouts
