Danielle & Marco

I do love a fiesta inspired wedding – give me a few tacos, a magarita and I am a happy girl – so when Danielle and Marco’s fiesta wedding touches appeared on the screen I knew you’d love the festive atmosphere to their day.

Daniella and Marco tell their story. “Marco is a proud Mexican futbol fanatic who coached a team at South Melbourne Women’s Football club whilst Danielle played for the same club and it was through this, years later at a mutual soccer friend’s farewell party that they met. Marco spent the night convincing Danielle to come back to play soccer and then cheekily walked her/followed her to the tram stop at the end of the night specifically to ask her out, from that moment being together felt quite natural.

A few years in, on a trip to Mexico in the Caribbean, dining on a private balcony, a Mariachi band started to sing up to the balcony, little did Danielle know this prearranged serenade would lead to Marco, once again in his cheeky way announcing there on the balcony, with ring in hand “It’s official!” The rest is now history!”

Beautiful photographs today are by Paul Stevens.

Marco and Danielle got ready together, Danielle choosing an Anna Campbell gown and Marco a suit from Peter Jacksons.

The processional was the moment the wedding hit Danielle “Right up until this moment the day had been very casual and relaxed, Danielle had even gone to Bikram Yoga that morning but at the very moment of walking down the aisle arm in arm with her parents, with ‘Stand by Me’ sung beautifully by Ivory Junction, Danielle was especially exhilarated with joy and experienced unexpected tears of happiness, it felt surreal.”

Danielle and Marco were married at St Kilda Botanical Gardens. They explain, “Danielle and Marco’s vision for their wedding day was to create an understated yet jubilant vibe, a simple and meaningful ceremony followed by a Mexican inspired Fiesta. The venues selected were perfect for this, the beautiful blooming rose garden in the St Kilda Botanical Gardens closed in by a tall evergreen hedge created an intimate surround for the ceremony, even with the Australia Day revellers who were also there enjoying the day!”

Of their photographer, they note, “The talented and patient Paul Stevens who captured many natural and unobtrusive shots from the beginning as Danielle and Marco got ready in their home together right through to the end of the night. Many guests have complimented the beautiful photography and commented that they hardly noticed he was there!”

Little Blue, St Kilda Pier was chosen for the reception “They then celebrated with their nearest and dearest, cocktail style at Little Blue situated at the end of the St Kilda Pier with a beautifully decorated indoor reception and a spacious deck with its breathtaking views across the city. Little Blue really is the perfect place for a reception, it feels like you’re on your own private island!”

“The children were given gifts including maracas, sweets and disposable cameras which kept them happy and entertained.”

“The Mexican Fiesta theme came together with items especially chosen by Danielle and Marco which included delicate Papel Picado, traditional Mexican bunting, hand cut by Ay Mujer with beautiful detail as well as Danielle and Marco’s names and their wedding date, these were draped across the reception room. Beautiful field flowers using vibrant Mexican colours in vintage jars decorated both indoor and outdoor areas and the deck was also lit up by a garland of coloured lights. The clever people at Little Blue brought all these elements together in a simple yet elegant way that exceeded what Danielle and Marco had even envisaged, needless to say they were delighted with what they saw when they arrived at their reception!”

“An amazing cake was designed and baked collectively by an Aunty Judy and cousin, Lisa, which matched both their invitations and the Mexican colour theme of their flowers by Gan Eden Flowers.”

For their first dance, Danielle and Marco remember, “On a clear night with beautiful full moon, on the deck of Little Blue they danced to “Let’s stay together” sung by Ivory Junction just as the Australia day fireworks lit up the night’s sky.”

Congratulations on your marriage Danielle and Marco! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Paul Stevens for sharing today’s imagery!
