Sarah and Rohen

To me, the best engagement shoots have a personal relevance to the couple – for Sarah and Rohen, they chose the Fremantle Yacht Club – where Rohen spent much of his childhood and where the couple had one of their first dates. The shoot (captured by Carla Atley ) turned into a romantic day out.

“Rohen surprised me with a weekend away in Margaret River. He had planned it months in advance asking my Mum to take my little boy for the two days and feeding me lines about going camping.

On the Friday morning I was told that he was going to take my son out for breakfast and they would be back a little later before we hit the road for our camping trip. The plan was I would get out of bed to find a bunch of flowers and a card explaining I was being whisked away. Instead I took the opportunity to sleep in and derailed the timeline a little! Oops!

Rohen drove me down to Margaret River and pulled into a beautiful luxury retreat and spent the next two days taking me to wineries, chocolate and cheese tastings. Heaven! On Saturday night after a beautiful dinner we went for a drive out to our favourite beach and Rohen proposed under the stars. He had planned it down to putting a light inside the ring box so that I could see the gorgeous ring he had chosen! Of course my answer was yes!”

“The yacht club holds a special place in Rohen’s heart, he spent a lot of time there as a child and took me there on one of our first dates. When it came time for us to choose a location for our engagement shoot we knew it would be perfect! Our photographer specialises in black and white fine art and we knew the she would create some stunning work here. We were certainly not disappointed! Carla made us feel immediately at ease and we spent the session laughing and reminiscing on our relationship. So much of our personality comes through in these images, she captured us perfectly.”
