 Emma and Brendan

Emma and Brendan celebrated their marriage with an elegant Brisbane wedding (captured by Studio Sixty Photography) despite, wait for it- a cyclone! Yes, these two got married amidst a cyclone and let’s face it – if you can find your perfection in a day that starts with a cyclone? You have it made.

Emma tells their story to kick us off. “Brendan and I met just after finishing school. We worked together at a local bakery and became good friends. It was not until a couple of years later that we began dating. I remember Brendan called up one night and started the conversation with “this is a bit out of left field but….” and we never looked back! ”

Emma and Brendan chose chandelier inspired invitations from Alannah Rose Stationery Couture.

Emma wore a mermaid style gown from White Lily Couture, Milton with her bridesmaids in grey gowns by Bari Jay.

Stems Flowers created the floral arrangements for the day.

Oh and that cyclone? Emma tells, “Our wedding was in the middle of Cyclone Oswald – the Cyclone that made Brisbane cancel Australia Day! I remember waking up and looking outside and the trees were bent over in half from all the wind! My first thought was OMG – my hair!! But both Brendan and I had said in the days leading up to the wedding that there was nothing we could do and this was a day we had planned for months and just to have a blast. I think we were so over the moon to be getting married even that Cyclone couldn’t dampen our spirits!”

Emma and Brendan were married at St Agatha’s Church, Clayfield. Emma walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Emma remembers the effort the guests went to ,with much admiration, telling, “Our guests that endured the wind and rain for us. Some people had to go home and change between ceremony and reception because they were that soaked from the rain and others had to buy new umbrellas because theirs was flipped inside out from the wind. But they all kept a smile on their face and made our day so special.”  The couple walked back down the aisle to “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)”.

Of their photographer, Emma says, “Jason from Studio Sixty Photography was just brilliant. He took the time to meet and get to know us beforehand and find out what we liked, disliked and really just get to know our vibe. He had scouted a bunch of beautiful locations in the area when a couple of days out we just knew it was going to rain. Jason called and said “don’t stress, I’ve got a heap of great spots to go. We will be fine” and we were. We are so happy with our photos and feel like they really captured the atmosphere and buzz of our wedding.”

“We just had so much fun! We had always said we wanted it to be a party, a big celebration and not to be minded and stress over the small things. I feel as though Brendan and I just had big smiles on our faces the whole day. We had a lot of guests tell us it was so good to see a couple just so happy and in love.”

The bridal party stopped off for a few cheeky drinks, Emma telling, “In between our ceremony and reception and during our photos, we went to Alfred and Constance – a bar in Fortitude Valley to have some drinks and shelter from the rain. We walked in our wedding get-up and all the staff were so accommodating – they loaded us up with cocktails and champagne and we were able to get some beautiful photographs.”

Emma and Brendan held their reception at Fix Restaurant, Emma remembering, “The Fix Restaurant has a small wine room where the bridal party waits and has some food and drinks before entering the wedding reception. We had the best time with our bridal party just laughing and relaxing after all the professional photos with pre-dinner drinks and oysters kilpatrick and pork belly canapes.”

Emma recalls, “The Fix Restaurant provided service over and above what we could have hoped for. Our wedding planner, Emma, was on top of everything and had arranged set up of the venue to perfection. The staff were so attentive all night making sure we were okay and that everybody had a drink and the food was to die for!”

Emma tells, “The beautiful speeches made by our friends and family will be something that we will always treasure.”

For their first dance, Emma and Brendan chose a classic. “Our first dance was to “Everything” by Michael Buble. We had dance lessons leading up the wedding but still forgot the moves halfway through!”

Congratulations on your marriage Emma and Brendan! Thank you for sharing your day and thank you to  Studio Sixty Photography for sharing today’s photographs with us!
