Jana and Steve

Fitzroy is one of the most interesting suburbs in Melbourne when it comes to photography locations and Jana and Steve, together with Vanilla Images certainly made the most of it for their engagement photographs!

Jana and Steve met at university, Jana recalling,  “We meet while studying our undergraduate degrees at LaTrobe University. We struck up an immediate friendship, but a romantic relationship took some time to blossom. 4 years after our first class together the penny finally dropped and we realised that what we had was much more than just a friendship.”

On what they love about each other, they remark, “Steve is the most caring and considerate person I have ever met. He always thinks of others first, and makes me feel like I’m the most important person in the world. I just love that no matter what mood I am in, I can speak with Steve or see him and he knows how to make me smile. Jana is intelligent, dependable, caring and passionate. She is my moral compass and someone I can chat to for hours.”

“In the early days of their relationship Steve being a morning person would make Jana (the night owl) a coffee to start her day, what started off as a nice, sporadic gesture has now come to be an expectation and may become a condition in their marital vows! Jana loves baking, Steve loves eating. ”

On what he loves about Jana, Steve remarks “Jana is totally selfless, she is always thinking about how she can make my life easier. Most of all she lights up my day when I see her and makes me a very happy man.”

For the proposal, the couple tell, “Jana always loves to know what happening, so for Steve to pull this off without her knowing was a real coup. The day started with lunch in Richmond Hill Larder and Cafe (cheese and wine are both our second loves), then the plan was to meet friends…little did Jana know this was all a ruse. Steve surprised her in the botanical gardens by mentioning he had a present for her – Jana’s response was “Yay, I love presents!”. First there was a tablet computer, then a photo montage and finally he whipped out the ring and asked the question. The answer was of course YES, after which we celebrated with champagne in the park.”
