In my mind, the New South Wales coastline is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Australia. Okay, growing up there may mean I’m a little biased, but I challenge you to prove me wrong after looking at this location! Mollymook Beach on the NSW South Coast is home to Bannisters Point Lodge. At only 3.5 hours away from Sydney, it’s the perfect luxury honeymoon for couples wanting to escape while still staying close to home.

This coastal hideaway was originally built as a quaint seaside motel, but renovations over the years have transformed it into the stunning location it is now. The 4.5-star luxury hotel comes complete with panoramic ocean views, which guests can view from the comfort of their rooms. And aren’t these rooms just divine? Bannisters’ 32 rooms – including 9 suites and penthouses – are furnished to suit the needs of all guests. King-sized beds, separate living areas and private balconies are available in every room. Plus, the bathrooms alone are enough to make anyone swoon – The Courtyard Suite and Spa Retreat room both come with a large double spa in the bathroom, perfect for unwinding in after the big day. If you’re after something a little different, try the Luxury Suites – two come with a Roman bath and gas fireplaces. Or perhaps a jacuzzi is more your style? The Jacuzzi Deck rooms come with – as the name suggests – a jacuzzi out on your room’s private deck. For the ultimate luxury stay, there’s nothing like the Pinnacle Penthouse. Large living spaces teamed with a beautifully-furnished bedroom, private steam room and media room are perfect for a romantic getaway – there’s even a rooftop garden for you to enjoy!

I can’t talk about Bannisters Point Lodge without mentioning the culinary experience guests receive. Celebrity chef Rick Stein is at the helm of the onsite restaurant, Rick Stein at Bannisters, and the tastes there have earned the restaurant a coveted place in the Australian Good Food Guide. Reflecting Rick’s passion for seafood and Bannisters’ relaxed coastal lifestyle, the meals are less fine-dining, more what everyone wants to eat. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, keeping you well-fed throughout your entire stay. Bannisters is also home to an onsite bar, where guests can relax with some delicious drinks and bar snacks while listening to some live music.

What would a luxury honeymoon be without a getting completely pampered? At Bannisters Day Spa it’s all about you, and the vast range of treatments will soothe, rejuvenate and balance your body and mind. Perfect for a honeymoon, Bannisters also offers a couples massage tutorial, where you’ll learn to attune yourself to your partner’s energies and needs through touch. Guys, there’s even a special menu for you – who says you don’t need a little R&R every now and then?
