Abby and Tim

Melbourne certainly knows how to do a Winter wedding and Abby and Tim’s choice to fly back from where they live in Perth and celebrate with their guests so nobody would miss out resulted in a sparkly, magical winter’s day captured by Louisa Bailey.

Abby tells of how they came to be. ” We actually went to high school together, but it was years later that we found each other thanks to some close mutual friends. And how lucky we are that we did! ”

Pash Flowers created the floral arrangements for the day, Abby remarking, “PASH flowers created my amazing bouquet, endless request for button hole flowers and pretty table centerpieces.” Claire Leighton styled Abby’s hair and makeup.

St Thomas Aquinas – South Yarra was chosen for the ceremony. Abby telling, “Over the years St Thomas Aquinas has become our family church in South Yarra, it is such a beautiful old church (although a little chilly), with its bright blue doors. ”

Abby walked down the aisle to’ Swept Away’ – The Avett Brothers.

“After being away from everyone for so long, the most wonderful part of the day (apart from getting hitched) was having all our family and friends in the one location. It could possibly be the only time in our lives that this will occur. Family flew from China, Spain, Perth and Sydney all to be with us, it was by far the most special detail of the day and Louisa Bailey caught it all on film for us.”

Of their photographer, Abby tells, “It was all thanks to my sister-in-law that we crossed paths with Louisa Bailey. I still remember the night that Sarah said she would send me the link to her friend Louisa’s website, whom they had asked to shoot their wedding in February, we instantly fell in love with Louisa’s work.

Louisa’s genuine happiness for Tim & I was evident from the moment we first touched base. We certainly didn’t need to feel daunted about the idea of wedding photos; our pictures represent who we are and what our special day meant to us. Louisa captured the happiness of both Tim and I and our special guests perfectly on the day.”

“We had so many lovely moments happen throughout the day, however a fond memory happened just after our photos had finished with Louisa, Tim and I walked alone back to Comme through the city, at which point so many people stopped us to congratulate us and shake Tim’s hand. Lovely gestures from absolute strangers, sharing in our happiness.”

Abby and Tim chose Melbourne CBD venue Comme for their wedding reception, noting, “The priority for the reception was our guests; to ensure they were treated to tasty food, delicious wine, great music and a warm atmosphere, therefore Comme was the prefect venue.”

There was a little DIY added to the day, Abby remarking, “We tried to add personal touches everywhere on the day with many handmade items. One of our favourites was our seating cards; we found a small love quote or song lyric for every guest. We also had Polaroid’s roaming the reception, which was our version of a guest book and with some investigative help we managed to track down the wedding photos of our parents and grandparents.”  The event staff wrapped up the floral arrangements for guests to take home at the end of the night.

The speeches were a highlight for the bride and groom. “We could have sat and listened to the speeches from our Dads and best friends all night. Our impeccable MC and good friend Corey Bakker (a proud front linesman of the band Drunken Poachers), wowed the crowd with his own stories.”

The first dance was somewhat of a group affair, Abby remarking, “We invited everyone to the dance floor to share our first dance – for which we chose ‘Ho Hey’ – The Lumineers. ‘I belong to you, you belong to me, my sweetheart’…..we all had so much fun, swinging each other around and singing this loud – a definite highlight of our night.”

Congratulations on your marriage Abby and Tim! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Louisa Bailey for sharing today’s wedding with us!
