When it comes to Alice in Wonderland wedding inspiration, my mind conjures up thoughts of bright vivid jewel tones, secret passage ways, sweet treats and plenty of sparkle. Today’s shoot pretty much encapsulated that vision – a collaboration between Melbourne wedding vendors One Sweet Girl (who came up with not only the styling and concept but also every cake and sweet treat!) Ambiance Image Photography and florist The Bouquets of Ascha Jolie.
The team found a beautiful garden (actually in a State forest in Victoria) and with wild, organic looking floral arrangements, cakes covered in glitter, gold leaf and polka dots, sweet treats of meringues, cupcakes and delicately printed biscuits created a shoot to inspire an Alice In Wonderland wedding.
Juli Stertern-Gill of One Sweet Girl explains the inspiration behind the shoot. “Since my very first project shoot debuted on Polka Dot Bride (that iconic Peony table), it’s been in my imagination to find a lush green English-style forest and create a luxe tea party, hidden in the trees, that Alice would love to attend, and that The Mad Hatter himself would approve of. The concept then expanded to become a private tea party for two – just Alice and her Mad Hatter – the perfect pair.
Inspirational fantasy, drawing on elements of the Disney classic ‘Alice in Wonderland’, to create a setting that could be replicated in full or in part by Brides looking for a themed wedding with a twist, or perhaps wanting ideas for an outdoor wedding that isn’t on a beach, a mountain or at a winery.”
