Kara and Kanye

I always think escaping to the country has a certain magic to it when it comes to engagement portraits – you, your beloved and your newly formed promise against nothing but nature. Kayne and Kara’s engagement shoot was even more special because they returned to the district where Kara grew up, paying homage to her life there with photographer Richard Grainger.

Of how they met, Kara remembers, “At a friend’s birthday, Kayne was shuffling and immediately caught my eye.” Watching Kayne dance, along with being the “butter to my popcorn” is the thing she loves best about her beloved.

The proposal went in a round about kind of way, as the couple planned a surprise wedding – Kara remembers, “Kayne officially proposed on the 31/12/2013 at 4am (sunrise) at Mouth Cootha. It really was a beautiful moment that we’ll never forget! He blind folded me at home and wouldn’t tell me where we were going. Unofficially we started planning our surprise wedding months before the proposal. He couldn’t give me the ring because it would give it away to all our friends and family. The proposal was the last thing to cross off the list and still made me cry!”

On what he loves about Kara, Kayne notes, “Her chicken nachos, any of her cooking really. Haha she is also my best friend.”

Of the engagement shoot location, Kara remarks, “We really love being outdoors. We went to the place I grew up. We weren’t really sure what to expect with the shoot, this is the first we had our pictures taken. Richie just worked his magic and we loved the pictures! Richie was really fun to work with.”
