Music brings so much to a celebration so I am delighted to introduce you to the funky cats behind Lark Music! They’re a live wedding band designed by you – that’s right! You get to pick the length of time they’re at your event, the number of performers, the instruments you love and even whether you’d love a male or female lead singer. Talk about customising your wedding music!

Lark Music can perform for ceremony, canapes, dinner and of course the most important musical element – dancing! They’ll learn special tunes if you need it and their pricing is rated on demand. They’re based in Melbourne but travel all over the country (and the world!) because what’s the point of dancing up a storm on a beach in Bali with no music?

We asked Luke of Lark Music five questions in five minutes –

What is your favourite after five drink?

Although the night time is mostly the working domain of musicians, I’m a lover of something a little complex and flavourful after 5pm. I enjoy a dark beer or full bodied red.

Your favourite weekend getaway?

At Lark, whilst most weekends are spent working, we are very lucky to get out of town and see some beautiful places in our business. Lately, I have been getting away with my partner to see my parents on the Sunshine Coast and have been playing some lush weddings in Noosa. Absolutely love that place!

Favourite restaurant?

Although I’m consumed by the cafe culture and foodie heaven that is my adopted home town of Melbourne, Brisbane’s Himalayan Cafe is still a favourite for a tasty serve of Sherpa chicken. Kerabu in Melbourne has seen us through many a dinner meeting with clients.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

For brekky on a Sunday, this gig wearied muso likes to catch up with those friends who spend their Saturday’s partying not working, for a feed of zucchini fritters and flat whites at Demitri’s Feast on Swan St, Richmond.

Your favourite wedding story?

At Lark, we are so happy that we are able to make a living out of playing music for people who are totally up for a good time. We were lucky enough to play the wedding of newsreader and Olympic swimmer Giaan Rooney in Euroa, Victoria. After a flamboyant entrance by the groom in his cattle mustering helicopter and a performance by that year’s X Factor winner, we kept the guests dancing into the wee hours of the morning. We are off to Shanghai to play a wedding in May, so I think there may be a new favourite soon!
