Mick and Justine

Mick and I met when we were 17 at our local pub (underage… sorry mum), at a Grinspoon Concert. Growing up in a small coastal town meant we were bound to run into each other and we started dating shortly after. Unfortunately I had planned to move to Perth in the new year and in 4 short months, would be leaving Mick. He had his apprenticeship to complete but we gave long distance a shot and thankfully it worked.

Our relationship grew stronger and stronger once I moved back home for him. We decided to go on the adventure of a lifetime and travel Australia in a camper trailer. It took us 9 months and 26,000kms to get around, and while we were half way around we got the opportunity of a lifetime.

Mick & I were asked to manage a business for 2 years, this helped our relationship and we got to know each other in a different way. This opportunity also paved the way for us to build our beautiful home and to plan our Broome Wedding.

We always wanted a tropical wedding and Broome ticked all the boxes! Warm, tropical, close to home. We got into contact with Yarni from Broome Weddings and she arranged everything! Having not seen the venues, any of the suppliers or tasted the catering, we went ahead and booked! All we wanted from our wedding was for our loved ones to be all together in one spot.

McAlpine House was recommended to us by Yarni and it was perfect. We booked out the entire resort for our families and held the reception there to party into the night.

We also got ready there in the morning before the wedding. My dress was a slim line flowing design called Della by Tuscany Bridal, Leederville. It was a cafe latte colour covered with ivory lace and a statement sash belt. My bridesmaids wore the reversible dress in Royal Blue by Canadian website Henkaa.

My bouquet was made up of pastel roses which had to be air freighted from Perth due to the heat and availability of flowers in Broome, the bridemaids held bouquets of baby breath.

The bridemaids and bridal hair were done by Indulgent Hair Studios senior hair designer Madison Giles who was also an honoured guest of the wedding. Makeup was by Kerri Roberts from Broome. Our ceremony was on the Lily Pond Lawn of Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, it was a hot 36 degree day but the shade and atmosphere of the lawn cooled it beautifully.

The Groom and Groomsmen wore Shoreditch Suits which vests and a white shirt. The Groomsmen had matching Royal blue ties to compliment the bridesmaids and Mick wore an ivory tie to match my gown.

My father walked me down the aisle to Ed Sheerans – Tenerife Sea. It was the perfect song to set the romantic mood. We had rose petals lining the aisles and a sweet sign to inform guests to pick a seat, not a side.

Our celebrant was Elisabeth Lucke, she was wonderful and helped share our love story with our guests.

We had 50 guests join us on the Lily Pond Lawn and had Coronas and Champagne served immediately after the ceremony.

We took the opportunity with our photographer to take a huge group photo, which was heaps of fun! Hot and steamy, we were all ready for a beverage at that stage.

Our photographer Yane had shot several weddings at grounds of the Cable Beach Club Resort and knew what striking effects we could use to our advantage.

We couldn’t have gotten married in Broome without photos from the famous Cable Beach. With the sun setting, the beautiful landscape spoke for itself.

My Veil was custom made by Maree Robertson Seamstress and perfectly complimented my ivory gown.

While we were having photos we arranged for a double deck bus tour to show our guests the sights of Broome. Our reception venue, McAlpine House, was decorated with fairy lights with large white lanterns hanging from the surrounding greenery. Marisa at Broome Party Hire took care of all our hiring needs and our dessert buffet was created by Brenda French whom  Broome Weddings had recommended. The balmy night was perfect for an outdoor reception.

Ms Gingham says: Cable Beach is such an iconic location and makes for amazing photos too. Congratulation Jus and Mick!

Justine says: “I am 24years old, working as an office manager for a construction company. Just finished building our first home, have a little furbaby cocker-spaniel. I enjoy keeping fit, keeping busy with study or decorating my new home. I have a small family with just mum, dad and my sister. My husband’s family is a bit bigger with cousins, aunties/uncles etc. He is from a farming background but is a tradie diesel mechanic that is trying his hand at driving trucks. We enjoy camping and fishing, holidaying. Have been overseas a few times together. We live a fairly quiet life living in Esperance, a small coastal town with only 16,000 people. We are a motivated and driven couple that strive to set goals and achieve them.”
