Kendall & Zach

I’m always a sucker for a beautiful engagement shoot. Something about them makes me come back to the core of why I love writing about weddings all day, every day. They’re a love story – no fuss, just a story. The ultimate beginning, the purest form of love and the excitement and giddiness that comes with that first flush of engagement.

So what better way to kick off our engagement features for 2015 than these romantic golden sunset engagement photos of Kendall and Zach from photographer Laki Sideris.

Kendall and Zach tell the story of how they met. “We had mutual friends throughout high school before becoming closer in our final year.”

On what he loves about Kendall Zach tells, “I love Kendall’s intelligence, good-nature and beautiful, free spirit.”

On what she loves about Zach, Kendall tells, “I love Zach’s super caring nature and positive attitude towards everything, nothing seems to faze him.”

Zach and Kendall laugh a lot, remarking, “Other than the mundane humour we find in our daily lives (like dropping a freshly prepared bagel on the ground!), we would say the way we got engaged makes people laugh.”

Zach tells the proposal story. “In possibly the most low-key fashion possible! It was a mutual decision after the ring Kendall loved went on sale we decided to just do it! The proposal happened after Kendall accidentally received an email after the ring had been delivered to my workplace, not allowing me any time to plan anything, she already knew I had it!”

Zach notes, “I (Zach) fell in love with Laki’s work after viewing his blog, particularly his portraits and the way every shot is layered with detail. Never just the individuals in the shot, Laki manages to capture so much more in every image. Laki managed to convey our casual, relaxed selves in a classic and timeless way that we will always be able to appreciate. The shoot took place in Geelong, where we lived in our first house together. Again a testament to Laki’s creativity, the first half of the shoot is set in a small wooded area that he spotted randomly as we were driving past, but it turned out to be perfect!”
