Jo & Brenton

For their relaxed Fremantle wedding, Jo & Brenton wanted a fun filled day filled with friends and family. Following a traditional church service, they celebrated with friends at an art gallery turned cafe, mingling in the garden before heading inside to dance the night away. They chose Peggy Saas to capture their day.

Of how they met, Jo tells, “We went to school together from year 3 to year 10. We then ran into each other at a pub after we’d left school and the rest is history…”

Floraco styled the flowers for the wedding, Jo remembering the moment the bouquets were delivered, as one of her favourites of the day.

Jo had her wedding gown made by Paula and Jo Dressmakers, her bridesmaids in black dresses from Shona Joy.

Jo and Brenton were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jo remarking, “Sacred Heart Catholic Church: over 100 years old, this church is lined with stain glassed windows that allow light to stream in and light up the room. The church is situated on old Mary Street in Highgate with weeping trees that hang over the road – it is breathtaking to drive down this street.”

A harpist from Angel Sounds played classic tunes during the ceremony.

Jo loved, ” Walking down the aisle with my mum and dad and seeing Brenton waiting for me at the end.”

Jo remembers, “For the pew ends in the church – we picked and dried lavender a few months before the wedding – my mum and aunty pulled them together with white dyed lined ribbon.”

Jo remembers, “The kiss at the church resulted in cherry long lasting lipstick to be smothered all over the groom’s lips!”

Of their photographer, Jo tells, “We are not ones to enjoy photos being taken and we weren’t big on posing so we wanted a photographer who could capture ‘a day in pictures’ to remind us of our wedding. Peggy’s shots are amazing! She well exceeded what we expected and we are wowed every time we see a new photo. She somehow manages to capture special moments without us even being aware that she is there.”

Jo loved ” Entering the reception via the Moore and Moore cartway to the band playing the drum roll and all our closest friends and family clapping.”

Reception celebrations began at Moore and Moore Cafe, Jo telling, “Moore & Moore Cafe is a heritage listed building that serves as a cafe during the day and function place at night. It displays old furniture and is decorated to suit. As it is an existing cafe extra decorations are not required, it looks perfect the way it is with some added tea candles and flowers to set the mood. Our reception began outside in the garden then moved indoors for speeches and dancing. The food was phenomenal and everyone was well fed.”

Jo’s mum made the wedding cake, her dad a replica wine box for guests’ cards and her aunt gifting her a handmade purse that had a tree of life, the newlywed’s initials and wedding date embroidered on it.
